Prediction of Behavioral Personal Space from Simulated Personal Space

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1973
Simulated and behavioral personal-space measures were administered to 170 male Ss. 36 scores obtained from 3 simulated measures were used to predict both unawareness and awareness behavioral personal space. A factor analysis of the simulated measures showed that they were rather distinct. Thus, a linear combination of them enhanced prediction.

Personal Space and Personality Characteristics: A Non-Confirmation

Psychological Reports, 1970
It was hypothesized that greater spatial distances would be used under the stress of talking about a difficult topic and by introverted and deviant Ss. In Study 1, 52 women completed an introversion-extraversion scale and half were assigned an easy or difficult topic to discuss with another student (an accomplice).

Creation of a personal space with HyWebMap

Proceedings ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications, 2002
The Web is an open, evolutionary and heterogeneous information space. To exploit this heterogeneous space and better orientate the reader, we developed the HyWebMap system which allows orientation in the space visited by using a benchmark tool, a browser, a history tool and a global image display based on an interactive map.

The Journal of Psychology, 1973
Personal space scores were obtained for 11 males and females in each of six elementary school grades toward four stimulus persons: man, woman, boy, girl. An analysis of variance with sex, grade, and stimulus person as the main effects produced significant sex, grade, sex × grade, and sex × stimulus person effects. Males had a larger personal space than

The present article describes the use of Repertory Grid methodology as a means of externalizing an individual's view of information space. The method is described with a single participant, and appears to offer a viable means of exploring the concept of information space.
