Natural Products Inhibit Bacterial Growth and Modulate Quorum‐Sensing Systems Las and Rhl in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quorum sensing (QS) is a bacterial cell communication system in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which regulates the production of several virulence factors, including pyocyanin, exoproteases, and biofilm formation. Natural products (NPs) have demonstrated their ability to control QS in different bacteria. This work evaluated the antimicrobial and anti‐

A Non‐G‐Quadruplex Hemin Aptamer Forms a Better Peroxidase Mimicking DNAzyme

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
A non‐G‐quadruplex aptamer exhibits peroxidase‐like activity when binding to hemin, forming a DNAzyme. This DNAzyme displays a pH‐rate profile similar to horseradish peroxidase, whereas a G‐quadruplex‐based DNAzyme shows an opposite trend. These two aptamers also show distinct hemin‐dependent nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy behaviors.
