Background and perspectives of possibilistic graphical models
1997Graphical modelling is an important tool for the efficient representation and analysis of uncertain information in knowledge-based systems. While Bayesian networks and Markov networks from probabilistic graphical modelling are well-known for a couple of years, the field of possibilistic graphical modelling occurs as a new promising area of research ...

Computer graphics interface: A developer's perspective
Computer-Aided Design, 1987The Computer Graphics Interface (CGI) is introduced and analysed with respect to the current needs of device manufacturers, systems designers, and users. Discussion includes topics such as the progress of CGI development, the features of the CGI, and the CGI's fundamental goals. Emphasis is placed on how well the CGI relates to 'real world' application

A linguistic perspective to develop graphical user interfaces
2015 3rd International Conference on Control, Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT), 2015In 1986, Jacob Nielsen proposed a virtual protocol for computer-human interaction. His protocol aims at analyzing and understanding the interaction between the human and the computer based on linguistic criteria. Our research elaborates on his protocol to investigate the abilities and capabilities of employing a linguistic perspective in building ...

The evolution of graphic representations in a Vygotskijan perspective [PDF]
In this paper we propose a constructivistic approach to the Cartesian plane. We look at it as a linguistic-graphic structure grounded in a cognitive function recognizable in the natural drawings of children. Then we hypothize for it a development process following the same path as in Vygotskijan model for natural vs. scientific language.

Computer graphics visions and challenges: a European perspective
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2006I have briefly described important visions and challenges in computer graphics. They are a personal and therefore subjective selection. But most of these issues have to be addressed and solved--no matter if we call them visions or challenges or something else--if we want to make and further develop computer graphics into a key enabling technology for ...

Background to and Perspectives on Possibilistic Graphical Models
1998Graphical modelling is an important tool for the efficient representation and analysis of uncertain information in knowledge-based systems. While Bayesian networks and Markov networks from probabilistic graphical modelling have been well-known for about ten years, the field of possibilistic graphical modelling appears to be a new promising area of ...
