Aggregation Processes of Perylene Bisimide Diimidazolium Salts
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2015AbstractThe supramolecular aggregation of three diimidazolium‐functionalized perylene bisimides, differing in the alkyl chain length was investigated. These salts form aggregates in solvents like chloroform, dichloromethane, and glycerol. Solvent‐, concentration‐, and temperature‐dependent spectroscopic studies were carried out, evidencing the ...

Iridium-Catalyzed Direct Tetraborylation of Perylene Bisimides
Organic Letters, 2011Treatment of perylene bisimides (PBIs) with bis(pinacolato)diboron in the presence of an iridium catalyst provides tetraborylated PBIs at 2,5,8,11-positions in good yields with perfect regioselectivity. The planar structure of the perylene core has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Perylene Bisimide-Based Luminescent Liquid Crystals with Tunable Solid-State Light Emission.
ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2021Perylene bisimides are among the most studied building blocks for supramolecular assemblies in the fabrication of optoelectronic devices for their exceptional optical and electronic properties; however, developing perylene bisimide-based luminescent ...

Anthraceno-Perylene Bisimides: The Precursor of a New Acene
Organic Letters, 2011A controlled synthesis strategy for a anthracene-fused perylene bisimide was developed from the cyclization of an anthracene unit pendant to a perylene diimide scaffold. The direct cyclization led to a zigzag molecule, while a Diels-Alder strategy influenced the regiochemistry of cyclization to afford the linear precursor of a new acene.

Twisted, Z-Shaped Perylene Bisimide
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005The first derivative of a new class of perylene bisimide chromophores, N,N'-bis(octyl)-3,9-bis(phenyl)perylene-1,2,7,8-tetracarboxyl bisimide, 1, has been synthesized and its fundamental photophysical and electrochemical properties assessed. The extended, Z-shaped structure was achieved by use of the classic photoenolization of an o-methylbenzophenone ...

Luminescent one-dimensional nanostructures of perylene bisimides
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2013Perylene bisimides form a unique class of organic semiconductors, in this investigation two symmetrical perylene bisimides caped with 1-butyl (B-PTCDI) and 4,4-diethoxybutyl (DB-PTCDI) have been synthesized and characterized. The compounds self-assembled as a network of nanobelts and nanorods in the solution based self-assembly process. Morphologies of
