Prevention or Control: Optimal Government Policies for Invasive Species Management [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a conceptual, but empirically applicable, model for determining the optimal allocation of resources between exclusion and control activities for managing an invasive species with an uncertain discovery time.

Thermocatalytic Ammonia Decomposition – Status and Current Research Demands for a Carbon‐Free Hydrogen Fuel Technology

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 15, Issue 2, January 20, 2023., 2023
Ammonia Decomposition for a Carbon‐Free Hydrogen Fuel Technology: Ammonia is a promising example of an efficient and transportable hydrogen carrier. The thermocatalytic decomposition of ammonia can be used to produce COx‐free hydrogen on demand. Thorough research into this process and the development of active catalyst materials are seen as the ...

A Versatile Carbonylative Approach to Ureas and Carbamates through Light Activated Nickel Catalyzed Formation of Aliphatic Isocyanates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A versatile carbonylative approach to prepare aliphatic ureas and carbamates has been developed. The reaction functions with an earth abundant nickel catalyst to generate electrophilic isocyanates from C(sp3) halides, azide and carbon monoxide.

Efficient and Stereoselective Synthesis of (Z)‐2‐Oxazolines by Transition Metal‐Free Cycloisomerization of Internal Propargylic Amides in Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP)

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
An efficient transition metal‐free protocol for the cyclization of propargylic amides with internal triple bonds to 2‐oxazolines is described. The reaction is performed in hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) which acts as solvent and source of HCl in the presence of TMSCl. The reaction conditions were optimized using response surface methodology.

TBADT‐Mediated C‐C Bond Formation Exploiting Aryl Aldehydes in a Photochemical Flow Reactor

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 15, Issue 2, January 20, 2023., 2023
Scaled Photochemical Reactions: A continuous flow approach for the photochemical synthesis of β‐ketonitriles and related species is presented. This approach tolerates (hetero)aromatic substrates and uses readily available TBADT as an effective HAT catalyst reaching throughputs of up to 41 mmol/h.

Antibacterial Siderophores of Pandoraea Pathogens and Their Impact on the Diseased Lung Microbiota

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Genome mining of environmental and pathogenic Pandoraea species identified a conserved NRPS gene cluster and led to the discovery of novel siderophores, pandorabactins, which exert their antibacterial activity by depleting iron from competitors. Bioinformatic analysis of sputum from cystic fibrosis patients coupled with bioassays indicates that ...
