Prevalence of Sporadic Insect Pests of Seedling Corn and Factors Affecting Risk of Infestation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Integrated Pest Management, 2018
AbstractA preventative insecticide treatment is a tactic compatible with an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy for a particular pest only when a rescue treatment is not a realistic option, and if there is a reasonable expectation of economic damage by that pest.

Surface‐Engineered Ti3C2Tx MXene/Cu2O Photocathodes for Highly Selective Photoelectrocatalytic CO2 Reduction to Ethanol

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐engineering Ti3C2Tx MXenes with an in situ‐grown TiO2 layer on the surface in combination with visible‐light‐absorbing Cu2O significantly enhances charge separation and carrier extraction while improving Cu2O resistance to photocorrosion. The resulting Cu2O/TiO2‐MXene photocathodes enable highly selective, solar‐driven ethanol production ...

Hemp Cultivation and Crop Diversification: Implications for Ecosystem Services in Kentucky

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the ecosystem benefits of expanding hemp cultivation by assessing its impact on crop diversity. Using scenario‐based simulations and fixed‐effect panel regressions with county‐level data in Kentucky, we find that increased hemp acreage tends to enhance crop diversity, improving water quality and bird diversity.

Pesticide MRLs as Trade Barriers: Evidence From Vietnam's Coffee and Rice Exporters

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As tariffs have declined globally through bilateral and regional trade agreements, food safety standards have emerged as significant determinants of agricultural trade flows. This study examines the impact of maximum residue limits (MRLs) for five pesticides—Azoxystrobin, Chlorpyrifos, Chlorantraniliprole, Clothianidin, and Cyhalothrin—on ...
