Rotary atomiser design requirements for optimum pesticide application efficiency

Crop Protection, 2014
Pesticide application efficiency from aircraft could be increased substantially, and required downwind buffer distances to avoid drift damage reduced significantly, if sharp issuing points or pins were added to existing rotary cage atomizer designs. This would enable existing rotary cage units, already successfully deployed for Ultra Low Volume (ULV ...

Pesticide Application Techniques for Optimizing Efficiency

Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1984
Optimization of pesticide usage requires proper attention to 4 basic principles: 1) correct identification of the problem, 2) selection of proper material, 3) optimum use of application equipment, and 4) proper timing of the control method. Present data indicate that there is much inefficiency in the application technique. The targeting dose technique,

Measurement of spray deposition and efficiency of pesticide application in citrus orchards

Journal of Agricultural Engineering Research, 1990
Pesticide treatments on citrus, in Spain, are performed manually and with application rates varying from 3000 to 9000 l/ha. This work was carried out to find methods of mechanizing these operations as an alternative to the conventional methods, with the purpose of achieving equal efficiency, but at a lower cost.

Synthesis and application of a carbon composite containing molecularly imprinted poly(methacrylic acid) for efficient removal of fenpyroximate pesticide

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2022
This work describes fabrication steps of the carbon composite based on molecular imprinted poly(methacrylic acid) (MIP-CC) as a new adsorbent for the selective removal of fenpiroxymate pesticide (Fen). The prepared composite was characterized using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), zeta sizer and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM ...

The Expedite® Pesticide Application System; A More Efficient, Safer Backpack Pesticide Application System

1992
The Expedite® Pesticide Application System is a unique backpack application system. The system is unique in that the packaging, formulation and applicator are an integrated system. This closed, ready-to-use system gives a pesticide applicator a way in which to apply pesticides that reduces exposure to chemicals through direct handling of the pesticide ...

Spray Application Efficiency from a Multi-Rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Configured for Aerial Pesticide Application

Transactions of the ASABE, 2019
HighlightsThe swath pattern was measured from an Agras MG-1 UAV spraying fine and extra-coarse droplet spectra. The recommended lane separation of 3.6 m did not differ for the two droplet size classes tested in this study. The applied spray deposited within the swath was higher with extra-coarse (>90%) than with fine (73%) droplets. There was ...

Driving Pesticide Application Efficiency through Nanoscale Interfacial Control

ACS Nano
Pesticide spraying is a cornerstone of modern agriculture, significantly boosting the food yield per unit area. However, inefficiencies in the spraying process─due to droplet loss─result in substantial environmental pollution and economic waste. A timely review and perspective are thus greatly needed, especially to guide future research.

Mortality and Predation Efficiency of Coleomegilla maculata Lengi (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) Following Pesticide Applications

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1994
We assessed the toxicity of four pesticides on adult Coleomegilla maculata lengi Timberlake. Their LC 50 was estimated by applying the pesticides on the ventral side of adults by micropipette. Malathion and cypermethrin had the highest toxicity followed, in decreasing order, by carbaryl and benomyl. Benomyl, however, caused very low mortality.
