Quantifying the impact of pesticides on learning and memory in bees

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, 2018
Most insecticides are insect neurotoxins. Evidence is emerging that sublethal doses of these neurotoxins are affecting the learning and memory of both wild and managed bee colonies, exacerbating the negative effects of pesticide exposure and reducing ...

Stabilizing Stretchable Organic Transistors Through Small‐Molecule Additive Blending for Ultra‐Sensitive Pesticide Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a small‐molecule additive to improve the stability of stretchable organic field‐effect transistor (OFET). Furthermore, stretchable OFET‐based pesticide sensors with extended‐gate electrodes are constructed. It achieves highly sensitive and precise detection of chlorpyrifos pesticide, reaching a detection limit as low as 0.032 ppb.

Medicago Sativa L. Saponin‐Driven Lactobacillus Intestinalis Restores Intestinal Stemness in Naturally Aged Mice via the Bile Acid‐FXR‐Wnt Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanism by which alfalfa saponin (AS) regulates intestinal stemness via modulation of the gut microbiota. The results indicate that AS significantly increases the abundance of Lactobacillus intestinalis, which subsequently activates Wnt signaling via bile acid metabolism and enhances intestinal stemness. These findings provide

Toxicity of plant essential oils to Cryphonectria parasitica (Murr.) Barr, the causal agent of chestnut blight [PDF]

open access: yesPesticidi i Fitomedicina, 2019
Twenty-two essential oil samples from Germany and Albania were assayed to test their inhibitory and fungicidal activity against Cryphonectria parasitica (Murr.) Barr., the major causal agent of chestnut blight on chestnut trees, using the fumigant ...

Superwettable‐Membrane‐Assisted Extraction and Separation as a General Method for Removal of Organic Pollutants From Water

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated liquid‐liquid extraction and in situ superwettable membrane separation system is developed for efficient removal of organic pollutants from wastewater. After being treated with this novel technology, the residual organic pollutants are < 1.5 ppm with a removal efficiency > 95.5% and a TOC < 40 ppm, demonstrating a scalable and sustainable

Circular 50 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
In 1981 a survey was conducted to determine the kinds and amounts of pesticides used in the production of potatoes and small grains in Alaska as well as the manner in which they were used.

HEALTH COSTS AND EXTERNALITIES OF PESTICIDE USE IN LOCUST AND GRASSHOPPER CONTROL IN THE SAHEL [PDF]

open access: yes
To evaluate the economic cost of classical chemical control of locusts, externalities of chemical pesticides in the Sahel are estimated through a farmer survey.

UK and EU policy for approval of pesticides suitable for organic systems: Implications for Wales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This study was commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) to review the pesticide approval system in the UK and Europe as far as it affects the use of substances and techniques for crop protection by organic producers in Wales. WAG considers it
