Role of assisted reproduction biotechniques in the transmission of bovine viral diarrhea virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Las biotécnicas de reproducción asistida han adquirido importancia comercial en los últimos años. Asociado a estas técnicas surge el interrogante sobre su rol en la posible transmisión de agentes infecciosos vía semen y ovocitos utilizados como material ...

Thoracic Ultrasonography Findings and Their Association With Respiratory Pathogens in 221 Young Beef Cattle at Fattening Farms: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Thoracic ultrasonography (TUS) could improve antibiotic treatment selection in cattle with respiratory diseases. Hypothesis/Objectives Evaluate the association between respiratory pathogens and consolidations on TUS in feedlot cattle, at both individual and group levels. Animals A total of 221 bulls, aged 8.8 months and weighing 322.

Virus-neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against bovine viral diarrhea virus and classical swine fever virus target conformational and linear epitopes on E2 glycoprotein subdomains

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
The envelope glycoprotein E2 of pestiviruses plays a crucial role in viral entry and elicits a virus-neutralizing humoral immune response. Consequently, the epitopes recognized by monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) on E2 are a significant focus in pestivirus ...

Immunological responses against bovine viral diarrhoea virus types 1 and 2 after administration of a commercial subunit vaccine measured by ELISA and serum neutralisation on serum and milk samples

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 12, Issue 1, June 2025.
Abstract Background Our study evaluated the antibody responses against bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV)‐1 and BVDV‐2 generated by a novel subunit vaccine comprising BVDV‐1 E2 and BVDV‐2 E2 recombinant glycoproteins. Methods Two trials were conducted.

Porcine low-density lipoprotein receptor plays an important role in classical swine fever virus infection

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections
Several cellular factors have been reported to be required for replication of classical swine fever virus (CSFV), a member of the genus Pestivirus within the family Flaviviridae.

Effect of strain and inoculation dose of classical swine fever virus on within-pen transmission. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
To improve the understanding of the dynamics and options for control of classical swine fever (CSF), more quantitative knowledge is needed on virus transmission.

By‐Catch of Grey Seals in Fish Traps in the German Baltic Sea—From Incidents to Mitigation and Fisheries Regulation

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT In autumn 2017, an unusual mortality event of Baltic grey seals (Halichoerus grypus grypus) occurred at the German Baltic coast. An alarming 23 carcasses of healthy, well‐fed, male large grey seals were found in a confined area in the Greifswald Bay (Mecklenburg‐Western Pomerania) in < 10 weeks from September to December.

The Effect of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus Biotypes on Bovine Oocyte In Vitro

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen with two biotypes, cytopathic (CP) and non‐cytopathic (NCP). The aims were to examine the impact of BVDV on the expression of genes related to apoptosis and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in vitro. Oocytes were infected with two BVDV biotypes.

Serological evidence of Coxiella burnetii, Leptospira interrogans Hardjo, Neospora caninum and bovine pestivirus infections in a dairy cattle herd from the United Arab Emirates

open access: yesVeterinaria Italiana, 2020
The serostatus of five abortigenic agents and the association between abortion history and Coxiella burnetii seropositivity were assessed in 350 dairy cattle from Al Ain, UAE. The bovine sera were ELISA-screened for C.

Mutation-induced changes of transmembrane pore size revealed by combined ion-channel conductance and single vesicle permeabilization analyses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Permeabilization of the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) is instrumental in the progression of host-cell infection by many viral pathogens. We have described that permeabilization of ER model membranes by the pore-forming domain of the Classical Swine Fever ...
