How does bad and good volatility spill over across petroleum markets? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We detect and quantify asymmetries in volatility spillovers using the realized semivariances of petroleum commodities: crude oil, gasoline, and heating oil. During the 1987--2014 period we document increasing spillovers from volatility among petroleum commodities that substantially change after the 2008 financial crisis.

The Impact of increase in energy prices on sectoral costs of production of the Malaysian economy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper examines the impact of an increase in the petroleum price on the sectoral costs of production. Three components of costs of production, which comprise domestic materials, imported input, and labour have been identified.

Robust Oil-spill Forensics and Petroleum Source Differentiation using Quantized Peak Topography Maps [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Identification and classification of environmental forensics, with the petroleum forensics as the main application, requires an effective technology or method to distinguish between the closely located forensics as they share many main biomarkers.

Polymer Brush Growth by Surface‐Initiated Ring‐Opening Polymerization from a Cross‐Linked Polymer Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stable cross‐linked ultra‐thin polymer coating for surface‐initiated ring‐opening polymerization (SI‐ROP) of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane and ε‐caprolactone for growth of high grafting density poly(dimethyl siloxane) and poly(caprolactone) brushes is developed.

The story of the UK oil and gas taxation policy: history and trends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Different oil producing countries adopt different types of oil and gas agreements to regulate their relationships with international oil and gas companies. These countries tailor petroleum fiscal regimes to fit their own desires. However, in some cases a

Plutarch on Petroleum [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1885
THERE is in “Plutarch's Lives,” in the life of Alexander, an interesting notice of the petroleum of Media; I have not found any mention of this passage in “Plutarch” either in encyclopaedia or chemical dictionary; I trust, therefore, that you will give me the opportunity of reproducing it in NATURE. I transcribe the passage from the translation of John

Shape‐Stabilization of Phase Change Materials with Carbon‐Conscious Poly(hydroxy)Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Poly(hydroxy)urethane (PHU) foam, derivable from carbon dioxide (CO2) and bio‐based resources, is a promising material platform for shape‐stabilizing phase change materials (PCMs). We demonstrate the encapsulation of both paraffins and calcium chloride hexahydrate in PHU foam, achieving 48 stable thermal cycles by introducing 5 wt.% barium carbonate ...
