Hematological profile as a crude oil exposure-related marker in wild rodents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology, 2013
The toxicity of petroleum components is well described in the literature, especially with regard to mutagenic and carcinogenic effects. In some groups of animals, such as birds, oil exposure seems to alter blood parameters, while this relationship is ...

Chemical signatures of the Anthropocene in the Clyde Estuary, UK: sediment hosted Pb, 207/206 Pb, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH), Polyaromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) and Polychlorinated Bipheny (PCB) pollution records [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The sediment concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Pb and 207/206Pb isotope ratios were measured in seven cores from the middle Clyde estuary (Scotland, UK) with an aim ...

Petroleum in Canada [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Society of America Bulletin, 1917
Production Compared with the United States, Canada is but a small producer of petroleum, the output of the two countries for the year 1915 being about 281,104,104 and 215,464 barrels respectively. In other words, the production of Canada was less than one-tenth of one per cent of that of the United States.

Print‐and‐Plate Architected Electrodes for Electrochemical Transformations Under Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Typical flow cell electrodes are composed of stochastic porous carbon, limiting understanding of electrode structure‐performance relationships. This work describes an approach, termed “print‐and‐plate,” to prepare porous electrodes by direct ink writing followed by conformal metal coating.

Petroleum in California [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the AIME, 1899
The existence of petroleum in California has been known for many years. Fromtime immemorial the California Indians used this mineral, in the form ofasphaltum, for various purposes. In the early history of the State the Catholicfathers utilized it for the roofing their missions and other buildings.

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Geochemical evaluation of crude oil in the Franquera Oil Field and nearby oil reservoirs in the southeastern region of the Maracaibo Lake basin.

open access: yesRevista Técnica de la Facultad de Ingeniería, 2013
Geochemical evaluation of oil from a well recently drilled in the southeast area of Maracaibo Lake (FRA-1X, Franquera oil field) and its comparison with 5 crude oils from nearby fields, led to the conclusion that these geochemically correlated marine ...

Petroleum in the Philippines [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the AIME, 1921
It has been 5 years since the writer left the Philippine Islands and whilein that country his chief work did not lie in this field, though he has visitedall but one of the localities mentioned in this article. The principal fieldstudies relating to oil were made by his colleague, Mr. Wallace E. Pratt.

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

Web Note No. 14 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In fiscal year 2014, Alaska’s state government can afford to spend about $5.5 billion. That’s an estimate of the level of Unrestricted General Fund spending the state can sustain over the long run, based on the current petroleum nest egg of about $149 ...
