The Non-Organic Theory of the Genesis of Petroleum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1996
Recent advances in interdisciplinary fields as diverse as astrophysics, cosmogeophysics, nuclear geology, etc. have led to interesting developments in the non-organic theory of the genesis of petroleum. This theory, which holds that petroleum is of an abiogenic primordial origin, provides an explanation for certain features of petroleum geology that ...

Impact of Recent Discoveries on Petroleum and Natural Gas Exploration: Emphasis on India [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Two discoveries have greatly impacted understanding relevant to the origination and emplacement of petroleum and natural gas deposits. One discovery, pertaining to hydrocarbon formation from methane broadens significantly potential regions where abiotic petroleum and natural gas deposits might be found.

Hematological profile as a crude oil exposure-related marker in wild rodents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology, 2013
The toxicity of petroleum components is well described in the literature, especially with regard to mutagenic and carcinogenic effects. In some groups of animals, such as birds, oil exposure seems to alter blood parameters, while this relationship is ...

Far- and mid-infrared spectroscopy of complex organic matter of astrochemical interest: coal, heavy petroleum fractions, and asphaltenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The coexistence of a large variety of molecular species (i.e., aromatic, cycloaliphatic and aliphatic) in several astrophysical environments suggests that unidentified IR emission (UIE) occurs from small solid particles containing a mix of aromatic and aliphatic structures (e.g., coal, petroleum, etc.), renewing the astronomical interest on this type ...

Petroleum in California [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the AIME, 1899
The existence of petroleum in California has been known for many years. Fromtime immemorial the California Indians used this mineral, in the form ofasphaltum, for various purposes. In the early history of the State the Catholicfathers utilized it for the roofing their missions and other buildings.

Print‐and‐Plate Architected Electrodes for Electrochemical Transformations Under Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Typical flow cell electrodes are composed of stochastic porous carbon, limiting understanding of electrode structure‐performance relationships. This work describes an approach, termed “print‐and‐plate,” to prepare porous electrodes by direct ink writing followed by conformal metal coating.
