Adhesion in coking petroleum resids

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1987
A laboratory unit consisting of a reactor with loosely fitting rods was used to assess adhesion in coking petroleum resids. The relationship between adhesion and the temperature at which cracked tars are coked was determined. Adhesion as a function of temperature in coking straight-run resids with and without asphaltenes was assessed.

MICROSTRUCTURE OF PETROLEUM COKE AS CARBURIZER

2010
As a carburizer in foundries, regular quality petroleum coke is often used. The selection of a carburizer depends upon many factors, the most important of which are the microstructure. This paper investigates the microstructure of commercial petroleum coke with increasing sulphur content as potential carburizing material in iron-carbon alloys ...

Abradability of petroleum pyrolysis cokes

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1987
Sample preparation and testing procedures were evaluated for determining the abradability of petroleum pyrolysis coke in its use as a filler for carbonaceous construction materials and for establishing coke grade based on abrasion resistance. Weight loss during abrasion was recommended as the test measurement.

The reaction of petroleum cokes with air

Carbon, 1987
Abstract A procedure for studying the reaction between petroleum cokes and air under chemically controlled conditions is described. Following Walker et al.[9], the weight loss curves were normalized by the use of a reduced time τ = t t 1 2 . A unique curve was not obtained for different cokes, as was the case with coal chars.
