Diversity of Culturable Hydrocarbons-Degrading Bacteria in Petroleum-Contaminated Saltern

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Microbial degradation of hydrocarbon in contaminated salterns has attracted increasing attention. However, the diversity of hydrocarbons-degrading bacteria in such environments was still poorly understood. A total of 14 bacteria were isolated from a petroleum-contaminated saltern, which could grow in 3% NaCl.

Petroleum hydrocarbons: Degradation and growth potential for Atlantic Ocean sediment bacteria

Marine Biology, 1976
Water, sediment and microorganisms were sampled at stations along a trackline in the Atlantic Ocean off the North Carolina Coast (USA) at depths of 9 to 5,000 m. Selected chemical and physical parameters were measured. At three of the stations, microorganisms isolated from sediment were examined for ability to degrade a number of petroleum hydrocarbons.

Petroleum hydrocarbons: Degradation and growth potential of deep-sea sediment bacteria

Environmental Pollution (1970), 1976
Marine sediment bacteria were found to be capable of utilizing a mixture of 19 petroleum hydrocarbons referred to as mixed hydrocarbon substrate (MHS). Autoclaving and the addition of sediment inoculum were found to change the concentration of inorganic nutrients affected growth of sediment bacteria and their utilization of MHS. (Author)

Isolation of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Degrading Bacteria from the Liaohe Estuary at Cold Climate

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
Two cold-tolerant petroleum hydrocarbon degrading bacteria strain named CHD1 and CHD2 were isolated from oil-contaminated soil at cold climate. The isolated strains were able use diesel oil as sole carbon. The petroleum hydrocarbon degradation rate was analyzed using UV-spectrometry-based methods. The results showed that the diesel oil degradation rate

Notice of Retraction: Immobilization of Petroleum Hydrocarbon-Degrading Bacteria and Its Degrading Characteristics

2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2011
Immobilized microorganism systems have the potential to degrade toxic chemicals faster than conventional treatment systems. Based on an effective hydrocarbon-degrading bacterial strain which was isolated from oil-contaminated soil of Dagang Oilfield, this study investigated the optimum preparation of immobilized microorganism: sodium alginate 2.5-3.5%,

Isolation and Characterization of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Degrading Bacteria from the Bohai Sea, China

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Fourteen petroleum hydrocarbon degrading bacteria strains were isolated from oil-contaminated site. Isolated strains were able use diesel oil as sole carbon and energy source. Bacterial strain HD1 was selected due to the luxuriant growth on oil agar. The oil degradation rate of strain HD1 was analyzed using UV-spectrometry-based methods.

Petroleum Hydrocarbon Degradation Potential of Soil Bacteria Native to the Yellow River Delta

Pedosphere, 2008
Abstract The bioremediation potential of bacteria indigenous to soils of the Yellow River Delta in China was evaluated as a treatment option for soil remediation. Petroleum hydrocarbon degraders were isolated from contaminated soil samples from the Yellow River Delta. Four microbial communities and eight isolates were obtained.

Isolation, genetic identification and optimization of hydrocarbon degrading bacteria from petroleum contaminated soil in Raigad region

Ecology, Environment and Conservation, 2023
In recent years, accumulation of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and water is a global concern due to its genotoxicity and carcinogenic nature. Bioremediation of petroleum contaminates sites with natural isolates having ability to degrade hydrocarbons, are safe alternative for effective biodegradation.

Distribution and activity of petroleum hydrocarbon degrading bacteria in the North Sea and Baltic Sea

Deutsche Hydrographische Zeitschrift, 1993
Data were collected in 1988 and 1989 on the distribution and activity of petroleum hydrocarbon degrading bacteria in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Crude oil degrading bacteria and the number of bacteria which in particular degrade naphthalene were quantified using a modified dilution method (MPN).
