Aging and the Spectral Properties of Brain Hemodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As the brain ages, its metabolic demands decline—but not uniformly. Here, spectral slope flattening of resting‐state fMRI signals is proposed as a potential biomarker of pathologic brain aging. A subset of older adults diverges from youthful spectral and metabolic patterns, with changes linked to frontal white matter pathology and regional loss of ...

Citrullination of AKT2 Catalyzed by PAD1 Facilitates the Maintenance of Stemness Characteristics of Ovarian Cancer Stem‐Like Cells in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PAD1 is upregulated within the CD133+ subset or cisplatin‐resistant ovarian cancer cells, which is positively associated with the upregulation of stemness‐related markers and maintenance of stemness in OCSLCs. Mechanistically, PAD1‐catalyzed AKT2 citrullination at R202 facilitates AKT2 phosphorylation, promoting CEBPβ expression and its binding to the ...

Long Term High‐Salt Diet Induces Cognitive Impairments via Down‐Regulating SHANK1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study identifies a novel mechanistic link between long‐term HS diet and cognitive impairment, wherein PKA/CREB axis inactivation leads to SHANK1 reduction, synaptic damage, and cognitive deficits. Abstract High‐salt (HS) diet is an established risk factor for cognitive impairment, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

De Novo Design of Specific Heterotrimeric Collagen‐Like Peptides via Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GRACE is a computational algorithm producing peptide sequences that will reliably fold into composition and registration‐controlled collagen‐like triple helices with user‐specified thermal stability. Additionally, GRACE allows users to specify the inclusion of biologically relevant (or other) sequences to automatically create tailored triple helices ...
