Inter- and intramolecular Diels-Alder/retro-Diels-Alder reactions of 4-silylated oxazoles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
4-Silylated oxazoles have been shown to undergo inter- and intramolecular Diels-Alder/retro-Diels-Alder reactions with electron-poor alkynes to generate polysubstituted furans.

A Strong and Water‐Retaining Biomass Adhesive Inspired by Tofu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the formation mechanism of the traditional food tofu, a strong and water‐retaining adhesive is designed using the soybean meal (SM) oxidized by glucose oxidase (GOx) and calcium sulfate oligomer (CSO). This design strategy effectively addresses the conflicting requirements of water‐resistant bonding strength and water retention

Methodical aspects of the assessment of the state of subsurface contamination with petroleum products caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серія Геологія. Географія. Екологія
Formulation of the problem. As a result of Russian military aggression, a significant number of petroleum product supply objects were destroyed in Ukraine, which led to the formation of new sources of subsurface contamination.

Low‐Loss Far‐Infrared Surface Phonon Polaritons in Suspended SrTiO3 Nanomembranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The low‐loss, highly confined, and thickness‐tunable surface phonon polaritons are demonstrated in the far‐infrared regime within transferable freestanding SrTiO3 membranes, achieving high figures of merit comparable to the previous record values from the vdW materials.

Phenol Deoxygenation over Hydrotreating Catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Phenol deoxygenation has been investigated as a model reaction for the deoxygenation of fatty acid methyl esters in biodiesel. Hydrodeoxygenated biodiesel is a drop-in fuel for petroleum diesel, and is a premium diesel with a high cetane number.

A Visible Light‐Responsive Hydrogel to Study the Effect of Dynamic Tissue Stiffness on Cellular Mechanosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visible light‐responsive polyacrylamide‐azobenzene hydrogel enables safe, reversible stiffness control for studying cell mechanobiology without harmful UV exposure. This approach reveals stem cells respond rapidly to mechanical changes, showing altered shape and protein distribution within one hour.

Fully Bio‐Based Epoxy Resins from Liquefied Wood for Chemically Recyclable Wood Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐based and chemically recyclable epoxy resin derived from liquefied wood and its use in wood coatings is presented. The resin exhibits mechanical, thermal, and water‐resistant properties comparable to commercial coatings and can be chemically recycled and reused. This approach provides fast access to glossy and fully biobased durable wood coatings
