Comprehensive Perspectives in Bioremediation of Crude Oil Contaminated Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Diverse components of crude oil and petroleum such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been found in waterways as a result of pollution from industrial effluents and petrochemical products (Beckles, et al., 1998).

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

A Strong and Water‐Retaining Biomass Adhesive Inspired by Tofu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the formation mechanism of the traditional food tofu, a strong and water‐retaining adhesive is designed using the soybean meal (SM) oxidized by glucose oxidase (GOx) and calcium sulfate oligomer (CSO). This design strategy effectively addresses the conflicting requirements of water‐resistant bonding strength and water retention

The Abilities of Four Species of Nigerian Aquatic Phycomycetes to Utilize Petroleum and Petroleum Products as Sole Carbon Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Studies were carried out on the abilities of four aquatic phycomycetes species isolated from crude oil polluted marine , brackish and fresh water environments in Nigeria to utilize refined Petroleum and Petroleum products as sole sources of carbon.

A Visible Light‐Responsive Hydrogel to Study the Effect of Dynamic Tissue Stiffness on Cellular Mechanosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visible light‐responsive polyacrylamide‐azobenzene hydrogel enables safe, reversible stiffness control for studying cell mechanobiology without harmful UV exposure. This approach reveals stem cells respond rapidly to mechanical changes, showing altered shape and protein distribution within one hour.

Vortex flow in the technology of radiation wave cracking (RWC) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
This article examines the theory of vortex flows in relation to the processes occurring in the radiation-wave cracking of crude oil, when the crude oil is sprayed into the gas stream in the form of a mist and then is fed into the reactor, where it is treated by the accelerated electrons and the UHF radiation. The output of this process are the products
