Global Warming and Petroleum Production

SPE Western Regional/AAPG Pacific Section Joint Meeting, 2003
Abstract The writers show that recent global warming of the Earth’s atmosphere is not due to increase in the man-induced carbon dioxide emission but rather to the long term global factors (such as increased solar activity). Rising global temperature drives very large volumes of CO2 from the ocean water to the atmosphere.

The Price of Petroleum Products

1994
This chapter discusses tax and price policies applied to petroleum products. It shows that there is a very wide disparity in policy between different groups of countries due both to tax policies in general as well as to more specific energy or environmental concerns.

Determination of Trace Water Content in Petroleum and Petroleum Products

Analytical Chemistry, 2016
Measurement of water in petroleum and petroleum-based products is of industrial and economic importance; however, the varied and complex matrixes make the analyses difficult. These samples tend to have low amounts of water and contain many compounds which react with iodine, causing Karl Fischer titration (KFT) to give inaccurate, typically higher ...

Some characteristics of certification of petroleum products by petroleum product supply organizations

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1999
Under the new rules approved by the Russian State Standards Committee, beginning in 1999, petroleum product supply organizations (PPSO) must obligatorily certify products delivered in bulk, i.e., they must provide their own certificates in addition to the supplier’s (manufacturer’s) certificate.

Petroleum Exploration and Production

1999
A knowledge of the mineralogy of hydrocarbon-bearing rocks is essential in the interpretation of reservoir rocks for petroleum exploration and production. The mineralogical effects on the characteristics of reservoir rocks are often profound, and some of the affected properties are listed in Table 1.

Petroleum and Its Products

2007
Petroleum is a diverse mixture of hydrocarbons—chemical combinations of primarily hydrogen and carbon. Complete combustion of hydrocarbons yields the end products of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). However, incomplete combustion results in a composite mixture of other products such as CO2, H2O, carbon monoxide (CO), and various oxygenated ...

Petroleum product scarcity: a review of the supply and distribution of petroleum products in Nigeria

OPEC Review, 2006
Nigeria ranks high among the comity of oil producers both at the world level and among the OPEC eleven. It is, therefore, paradoxical that the supply of all petroleum products is erratic and has declined sharply in the recent past. This paper thus reviews the petroleum product supply and distribution systems in the country to ascertain the extent to ...

Petroleum and Its Products

2012
Petroleum makes the world go around. In the realm of global economics and politics, that statement is hard to dispute. Petroleum is uniquely versatile. When wisely handled, it is safe and clean compared to most alternatives. It is still abundant, and it can be stored for years at a time simply by leaving it in the ground.
