Porous Iridium Oxide Inverse Opal Catalysts Enable Efficient PEM Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Porous iridium‐based inverse opal (IrOx‐IO) structures are introduced as high‐performance, unsupported PEM‐WE anode catalysts. Their electrochemical behavior is analyzed through porosity/surface area tuning, voltage breakdown, and circuit modeling.

The Impact on U.S. Industries of Carbon Prices with Output-Based Rebates over Multiple Time Frames [PDF]

open access: yes
The effects of a carbon price on U.S. industries are likely to change over time as firms and customers gradually adjust to new prices. The effects will also depend on the number of countries implementing the policy as well as offsetting policies to ...

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Standard Oil as a Technological Innovator [PDF]

open access: yes
A century ago, in 1911, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its path-breaking decision in the monopolization case against the Standard Oil Companies. Standard pleaded inter alia that its near-monopoly position was the result of superior innovation, citing in ...

Toward Energy Efficient Electrochemical Valorization of Waste Nitrate and Sulfide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an integrated electrochemical strategy couples nitrate reduction with sulfide oxidation for energy‐efficient wastewater valorization. A Cu‐Co dual‑site catalyst, engineered for close proximity, promotes *NO2 relay and subsequently NH3 formation, enabling the system to operate at substantially reduced cell voltages and produce high ...

An Integrated Stainless Steel‐Based Electrode for Durable Direct Natural Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report an integrated stainless steel‐based electrode featuring Pt atomic clusters anchored on a NiFe‐LDH anticorrosive layer. By regulating interfacial water dynamics to suppress chloride attack, this hierarchical architecture achieves superior durability (over 1000 h) and energy efficiency in direct seawater electrolysis, offering a cost‐effective ...

Modification of Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from a petroleum refining effluent for increased petroleum product degradation

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2012
Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Kaduna refining and petrochemical company (KRPC) were subjected to ultra-violet (UV)-irradiation for 30 min followed by nitrous acid treatment and re-irradiated with UV light for 30 min using standard methods and their petroleum degradation abilities were compared with parent strains.
