The Impact of Curcumin, Gingerol, Piperine, and Proanthocyanidin on the Oxidative Stability of Sunflower and Soybean Oils for Developing Bio-Lubricants

open access: yesLubricants
Vegetable oils can serve as a fundamental raw material for formulating lubricants due to their exceptional lubricating properties, which are indicated by viscosity indexes greater than 100. Vegetable oils, due to their unsaturated fatty acids with one or

Ion‐Selective Microporous Membranes via One‐Step Copolymerization Enable High‐Performance Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step copolymerization strategy is developed to produce low‐cost microporous ion exchange membranes that boost both the efficiency and lifespan of flow batteries. When combined with organic electrolytes in aqueous systems, these membranes enable safe and cheap flow battery energy storage, supporting the widespread integration of renewable

Non-Equilibrium Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Different Base Oils (Mineral and Vegetable) and an Oil Blend

open access: yesLubricants
In a previous experimental study, a high-frequency reciprocating rig tribotester was used to test several base oils, including a mineral oil and a vegetable oil, as well as a blend of the two, with and without the addition of carbon-based nanoparticles ...

Self‐Immolative Activatable Nanoassembly toward Immuno‐Photodynamic Therapy in TME

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A quinone methide‐gated, self‐immolative, H2O2‐responsive nano‐photosensitizer (Pyz/PS) is developed for targeted immuno‐photodynamic therapy. Pyz/PS selectively activates within tumor microenvironments, restores photosensitizer activity, generates ROS, and depletes intracellular GSH, enhancing oxidative stress.

Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister

Harnessing Non‐Covalent Protein–Protein Interaction Domains for Production of Biocatalytic Materials Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Non‐covalent protein–protein interactions mediated by SH3, PDZ, or GBD domains enable the self‐assembly of stable and biocatalytically active hydrogel materials. These soft materials can be processed into monodisperse foams that, once dried, exhibit enhanced mechanical stability and activity and are easily integrated into microstructured flow ...

Robust Bio‐Textiles Via Mycelium‐Cellulose Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a new class of sustainable textiles by growing mycelium, the root‐like structure of fungi, into cellulose‐based fabrics. This semi‐interpenetrating mycelium‐cellulose fiber network combines the strength and breathability of natural fibers with the water‐resistant and adhesive properties of mycelium, resulting in a robust, scalable,

The Performance of Carbon-Based Nanomaterials in Different Base Oils and an Oil Blend

open access: yesLubricants
Different carbon-based nanomaterials (fullerenes, graphene, SWCNTs, and SWCNT-COOH) were tested as additives in a base mineral oil, SN150; rapeseed oil (RSO); and a 50/50 by volume blend of the two using an HFRR (high-frequency reciprocating rig) tester ...

Predicting Reservoir or Non-Reservoir Formations by Calculating Permeability and Porosity in an Iraqi Oil Field [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
This study is focused on identifying the formations, whether are they reservoir formations or not. The effective porosity and permeability evaluating of the oil reservoir is the most important methods to recognize the formations.
