Distribution and retention of Petrolisthes armatus in a coastal plain estuary: The role of vertical movement in larval transport

Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 2010
Since transport of planktonic larvae is essential to the maintenance and expansion of many marine species, we examined the spatial and temporal distribution of green porcelain crab Petrolisthes armatus (Gibbes, 1850) larvae and the possible underlying physical and behavioral mechanisms using a combination of field observations and numerical modeling ...

Spacing and movement in the green porcelain crab Petrolisthes armatus: evidence for male competition and mate guarding

Marine and Freshwater Behaviour and Physiology, 2017
AbstractThe green porcelain crab, Petrolisthes armatus, is a common invasive species on inter-tidal oyster reefs in the South Atlantic Bight whose behavior is largely unknown. We assessed the effects of the presence of opposite-sex conspecifics on adult crab spacing at a low density to infer potential mate acquisition behaviors. Adult crabs held in all-

Estimating population features of the anomuran crabPetrolisthes armatus(Porcellanidae) in a remaining and impacted mangrove area of the western Atlantic

Journal of Natural History, 2009
This study evaluated biological aspects of Petrolisthes armatus inhabiting a remaining but disturbed mangrove area of Brazil. Samples were taken from March 2005 to July 2006, during low tide in the rocky-shore region. The size frequency distribution for all the individuals collected was bimodal.

Petrolisthes Armatus (Gibbes, 1850) : the Development Under Laboratory Conditions of Larvae From a Pacific Specimen (Decapoda, Porcellanidae 1)

Crustaceana, 1972

Population biology of the green porcelain crab Petrolisthes armatus (Crustacea: Porcellanidae) in a tropical estuarine bay of northeastern Brazil

2019
The aim of this study was to investigate the population biology of the green porcelain crab Petrolisthes armatus in an estuarine area of northeastern Brazil. Individuals were monthly sampled (February 2011-January 2012) during the spring low tide. Four transects, 10 m apart from each other and perpendicular to the shoreline were delimited in the rocky ...

Population relationships between the parasiteAporobopyrus curtatus(Richardson, 1904) (Isopoda: Bopyridae) and one of its porcelain crab hostsPetrolisthes armatus(Gibbes, 1850) (Decapoda: Porcellanidae) from Farol Island, southern Brazil

Journal of Natural History, 1998
The following aspects of population relationships between the bopyrid isopod Aporobopyrus curtatus and the porcelain crab Petrolisthes armatus were analysed: size-specific prevalence, parasitic intensity, frequency distribution of the nine groups of parasite stage or sex infesting hosts.
