Wetlands as environments of early human occupation: A new classification for freshwater palaeowetlands

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
A new classification for inland freshwater palaeowetlands to be used in the field or core laboratory by sedimentologists, providing examples from the Guadix Basin (southern Spain). Abstract Present wetlands have proven to be delicate, biodiverse ecosystems, that are natural sinks for CO2 and act as good indicators for climate changes.

Chondrules and Nebular Shocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Beneath the fusion-encrusted surfaces of the most primitive stony meteorites lies not homogeneous rock, but a profusion of millimeter-sized igneous spheres. These chondrules, and their centimeter-sized counterparts, the calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions, comprise more than half of the volume fraction of chondritic meteorites.

MAGMATIZM AND EPITHERMAL Ag-Au ORE MINERALIZATION OF KRASNOYARSK GOLD ORE FIELD OF GORNY ALTAI

open access: yesИзвестия Томского политехнического университета: Инжиниринг георесурсов, 2019
The relevance of the study is caused by the need of researching petrology, geochemistry subvolcanic rocks and epithermal Ag-Au ore mineralization of Krasnoyarsk ore field of Gorny Altai.

Routine characterization and interpretation of complex alkali feldspar intergrowths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Almost all alkali feldspar crystals contain a rich inventory of exsolution, twin, and domain microtextures that form subsequent to crystal growth and provide a record of the thermal history of the crystal and often of its involvement in replacement ...

South American Great Basin: Limnogeological analysis of the Salina del Bebedero Basin, Argentina (Late Pleistocene‐recent)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
. The Bebedero tectonic depression in San Luis province, Argentina, is a closed drainage basin that has formed as a result of block‐faulting and rifting processes. The Bebedero lake exhibits notable similarities to the endorheic watersheds of the western United States, particularly those of Death Valley, the Saline Valley and, to a lesser extent, the ...

Coherent changes in wood charcoals, site occupation and lithic technology across the MIS 4/3 transition at Klein Kliphuis rock shelter, South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 38, Issue 1, Page 38-48, January 2023., 2023
Abstract We explore the correspondence between changing palaeoenvironments, patterns of site use, and lithic technology at the rock shelter site Klein Kliphuis (South Africa) across the interval 65–55 000 years before present. This period coincides with the termination of Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 4, and the disappearance of an iconic late Pleistocene

Incorporation of a Late-forming Chondrule into Comet Wild 2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report the petrology, O isotopic composition, and Al-Mg isotope systematics of a chondrule fragment from the Jupiter-family comet Wild 2, returned to Earth by NASA's Stardust mission. This object shows characteristics of a type II chondrule that formed from an evolved oxygen isotopic reservoir.

Composition, structure and fluid regime of differentiated porphyritic intrusion Magnitogorsk iron-ore deposit (Southern Urals)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
Case study of the differentiated subvolcanic porphyritic intrusion underlying Magnitogorsk skarn-magnetite deposit revealed regular relations between petrochemistry features of the rocks and composition of halogens (Cl and F) in the accessory apatite ...

Chemical and textural equilibration of garnet during amphibolite-facies metamorphism: The influence of coupled dissolution-reprecipitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Metamorphic equilibration requires chemical communication between minerals and may be inhibited through sluggish volume diffusion and or slow rates of dissolution in a fluid phase.
