Petrophysics

2021

PETROPHYSICS SKILL SET GUIDELINES FOR INDEPENDENT PETROPHYSICAL CONTRIBUTORS

SPWLA 62nd Annual Online Symposium Transactions, 2021
During the 2014 SPWLA Topical Meeting on “Educating the Petrophysicist”, it recommended that “A minimum set of standards in terms of both knowledge and skills (competencies) for an entry level petrophysicist (SPWLA, 2014). Similar proposal has been raised before as well (Loermans, 2002). With the rapid advance in technology, continuous crew change, and

Petrophysical Seismic Inversion

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2005, 2005
As part of a two years collaborative RD the geomodels are not simply conditioned to seismic attributes by seismic-guided mapping but reproduce prestack seismic measurements (Bornard et al., 2005). A key component of the inversion methodology is a Petro-Elastic Model (PEM) that links the reservoir properties stored in the geomodel (e.g., porosity, rock ...

Petrophysical applications of NMR imaging

Applied Optics, 1985
A system for obtaining high-resolution NMR images of oil field cores is described. Separate proton density and T2 relaxation images are obtained to distinguish between spatial variations of fluid-filled porosity and the physical nature of the pores. Results are presented for typical sandstones.
