Effect of sedimentary heterogeneities in the sealing formation on predictive analysis of geological CO2 storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Numerical models of geologic carbon sequestration (GCS) in saline aquifers use multiphase fluid flow-characteristic curves (relative permeability and capillary pressure) to represent the interactions of the non-wetting CO2 and the wetting brine. Relative

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

3D Quantification of Subsidence During Pyrenean Retro‐Wedge Initiation: Role of Structural and Thermal Inheritance on Hyperextended Margin Inversion (Aquitaine Basin)

open access: yesTerra Nova, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present novel 3D subsidence data enabling vertical movements' quantification during the early formation of the Pyrenean retro‐wedge. From Cenomanian to Turonian times, subsidence is relatively low (~26 ± 10 m/Myr), corresponding to a brief 10 Myr thermal re‐equilibration of the European lithosphere following the hyperextended rift episode ...

Sustainability problems of the Giza pyramids

open access: yesHeritage Science, 2020
The Pyramids complex in Giza consists of three main pyramids in addition to the famous Sphinx and small queen’s pyramids. Recently, the pyramids of Cheops (Khufu), Chephren (Khafre) and Mykerinos (Menkaure) on the Giza plateau have been threatened by a ...

Salt Precipitation‐Driven Rock Failure Mode Transition During Geological CO2 Sequestration

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract Salt precipitation has emerged as a critical factor affecting injectivity, reservoir stability, and the potential to trigger near‐wellbore microseismic activity during geological CO2 sequestration. While previous studies have primarily focused on the brine acidification induced by CO2 injection, triggering geochemical reactions in carbonate ...

Mineralogical modelling and petrophysical parameters in Permian gas shales from the Roseneath and Murteree formations, Cooper Basin, Australia

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2016
To estimate the resources of Permian Roseneath and Murteree gas shales in the Cooper Basin, Australia, geochemical analysis, log interpretation and core analysis techniques were combined to conduct mineralogical modelling and define petrophysical ...

Evaluation of mineralogy per geological layers by Approximate Bayesian Computation

open access: yes, 2019
We propose a new methodology to perform mineralogic inversion from wellbore logs based on a Bayesian linear regression model. Our method essentially relies on three steps.

Resistivity Change Mechanism in the Carbon Dioxide Sequestration Process

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 752-763, February 2026.
This study explores the variation law, influencing factors, and mechanisms of resistivity in the interaction between CO₂ and saltwater. This study used a hollow PEEK conductor to simulate core pores. With excellent thermal stability, mechanical strength, and electrical insulation, its homogeneous, nonporous nature eliminates interference from rock ...
