Elastic Anisotropy and Internal Structure of Rocks from the Uranium Ore Occurrences of the Litsa Ore Area (Kola Region, Russia)

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
A relation of uranium mineralization to structural, textural and physical properties of rocks was investigated using two uranium ore occurrences (Beregovoe and Dikoe) in the Litsa ore area (Kola region, Russia) as an example.

Sedimentary heterogeneity and petrophysical characterization of Barremian tsunami and barrier island/inlet deposits: The Aliaga outcrop as a reservoir analogue (Galve sub-basin, eastern Spain) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The present study examined two sandstone deposits in the Aliaga outcrop as a reservoir analogue over a distance of 200-m-long and attempted to establish a correlation between sand facies and the petrophysical properties of the sandstones in order to ...

In‐situ asphaltene capture with iron oxide nanoparticles in steam‐assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) for improved recovery and partial upgrading of bitumen

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Key improvements obtained by incorporating nanoparticles into a lab‐scale SAGD process configuration. The bar plots show enhanced oil recovery, reduced viscosity, and increased asphaltene adsorption in nanoparticle‐assisted scenarios compared with conventional SAGD.

Ocean Bottom Seismometer Clock Correction using Ambient Seismic Noise

open access: yesSeismica
Ocean-bottom seismometers (OBSs) are equipped with seismic sensors that record acoustic and seismic events at the seafloor, which makes them suitable for investigating tectonic structures capable of generating earthquakes offshore.

Role of Internal Motions and Molecular Geometry on the NMR Relaxation of Hydrocarbons

open access: yes, 2018
The role of internal motions and molecular geometry on $^1$H NMR relaxation times $T_{1,2}$ in hydrocarbons is investigated using MD (molecular dynamics) simulations of the autocorrelation functions for in{\it tra}molecular $G_R(t)$ and in{\it ter ...

Quantitative Insights into Atomic Scale Oil–Clay Adhesion Governing Shale Oil Retention and Mobility

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Atomic force microscopy reveals a clear adhesion hierarchy between shale oil and clay minerals, governed by nanoscale surface chemistry. Strong interactions on chlorite and illite arise from abundant polar sites and cation bridging, whereas weaker coupling on montmorillonite limits interfacial binding.
