Systematics of the Pezizomycetes—the operculate discomycetes
Mycologia, 2006The Pezizomycetes (order Pezizales) is an early diverging lineage within the Pezizomycotina. A shared derived character, the operculate ascus, supports the Pezizales as monophyletic, although functional opercula have been lost in certain taxa. Phylogenetic relationships within Pezizales were studied using parsimony and Bayesian analyses of partial SSU ...

Taxonomy and phylogeny of operculate discomycetes: Pezizomycetes
Fungal Diversity, 2018The class Pezizomycetes is monophyletic within the subdivision Pezizomycotina. The main distinguishing character of this class is operculate asci, although in some taxa this character has been lost. The circumscription of the families and generic level delimitation in Pezizomycetes is still controversial, although several molecular phylogenetic studies

A new species of Helvella (Helvellaceae, Pezizomycetes) within the H. macropus group from China
Phytotaxa, 2023The brown cupulate saddle fungi with villus surface in China, have long been named as Helvella macropus, a well-known European and North American species. In this study, Helvella fruiting bodies from Austria, China (the Tibetan Plateau), and Germany were examined.

The Caloscyphaceae (Pezizomycetes, Ascomycota), with a new genus
Mycological Progress, 2012The family Caloscyphaceae with a single genus, Caloscypha, has been considered to include a single species, C. fulgens. Study of an overlooked second species, Caloscypha incarnata from North Africa and Italy, using SSU, LSU rDNA, and morphology allows placement of this species in a new genus, Kallistoskypha, in the Caloscyphaceae.

The Pezizomycetes of Grimsdalen, Dovre, South Norway
AGARICA, 2020We report on an annotated list of 115 operculate discomycetes (Pezizomycetes) from sub-alpine and alpine habitats in the mountain massif of Grimsdalen, Dovre, South Norway. Five-hundred-and-sixty-five collections that originate from fieldwork in Grimsdalen in the years from 1979 to 1985, supplemented with an additional ca.

Geopyxis carolinae sp. nov. (Pezizomycetes, Ascomycota) from Mexico
PhytotaxaGeopyxis is an ectomycorrhizal genus found in temperate forests. The members form yellow and orange to brown apothecia that range from 3–25 mm in diameter. Its ascospores are smooth to finely verrucous. The specimen collected from Mount Tlaloc, Texcoco, State of Mexico, was identified as Geopyxis carolinae sp. nov.

2 Pezizomycotina: Pezizomycetes, Orbiliomycetes
2015The classes Orbiliomycetes and Pezizomycetes are early diverging lineages in the Pezizomycotina. The Orbiliomycetes, with a single order and single family, produce small ascomata, small unitunicate asci that open without an operculum, and minute ascospores. They are saprobic or predaceous on invertebrates. The order exhibits a range of conidial states,

The new taxon Luteoamylascus aculeatus described in this article is proposed to accommodate two collections of a hypogeous ascomycete from central Spain, characterized by a tomentose yellowish peridium, labyrinth-like gleba filled with whitish hyphae, and intensely reacting amyloid asci.
