Differences in quality of PF ring vacuum between positron and electron storage mode

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1989
Electrons or positrons were stored in the electron storage ring of the Photon Factory (PF). The vacuum of the PF was so good that differences in the instantaneous beam lifetimes between electron and positron storage modes were very slight. Abnormal decrements of the stored beam current observed in the electron storage mode did not appear in the ...

Improvement of the PF ring vacuum system

Applied Surface Science, 2001
For an upgrade of the PF ring, about half of the vacuum ducts were replaced by newly made or improved ones, which were designed and manufactured to achieve the required beam lifetime. The concept of pumping was maintained. Every vacuum duct was pre-baked and installed with care so as not to introduce contamination caused by exposure to the atmosphere ...

Commissioning of the PF Ring after the Reconstruction for the Straight-sections Upgrade

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
At the 2.5‐GeV ring of the Photon Factory, a large reconstruction of the lattice around the straight sections has been accomplished in 2005. Thus reconstruction is the main part of the straight‐sections upgrade project to rebuild existing undulators and to increase the number of undulator beamlines.

Cod Correction at the PF Ring and PF-AR by New Orbit Feedback Scheme

Proceedings of the 2005 Particle Accelerator Conference, 2006
The eigen vector method with constraint conditions (EVC) is the new orbit feedback scheme. When the global COD correction is made with the EVC, the local orbit correction can simultaneously be done without the deterioration of the global COD correction. In order to demonstrate the advantage of the EVC, we made the machine studies at the PF ring and the

Operation of the PF ring vacuum system without an in situ bake-out

Applied Surface Science, 2001
The vacuum system of the PF ring was commissioned without an in situ bake-out after its upgrading reconstruction in which a great number of vacuum beam ducts were replaced by new or improved ones. The degassing of the ring was decreased sufficiently by synchrotron-radiation irradiation as expected from previous experiments.

New fast orbit feedback system using MicroTCA-based BPM electronics for the PF-ring

The upgrade of the fast orbit feedback (FOFB) system is currently underway at the PF-ring. The new FOFB system consists of MicroTCA-based BPM electronics and a feedback control (FBC) unit. The BPM electronics are prepared with the same number as BPMs and synchronously transmit 10-kHz rate beam position data to the FBC unit via an optical data link. The
