Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Patients With Transaldolase Deficiency

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Transaldolase (TALDO) deficiency has a well‐characterized phenotype. However, there are few large cohort studies, and little is known about the long term, including the need for organ transplantation. Our aim was to share a long multicenter experience in managing these patients.

Scale‐Specific Viscoelastic Characterization of Hydrogels: Integrated AFM and Finite Element Modeling

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 15, 12 March 2026.
An integrated multiscale approach reveals distinct viscoelastic responses of hydrogels across length scales. Combining AFM‐based nanoindentation, finite element modeling, and a novel analytical framework, this study enables accurate, scale‐specific mechanical characterization to guide the design of advanced biomaterials. Abstract Viscoelastic hydrogels

Efficient, Reversible Lead Adsorption in a Thiol‐Decorated Zirconium‐Metal–Organic Framework

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 17, 20 March 2026.
A thiol‐decorated Zr‐MOF, Zr‐DMSA, efficiently captures Pb(II) from water via mixed S/O chelation enabled by flexible “dangling” ligands, as revealed by solid‐state NMR and pair distribution function analyses. Treatment with 1 M HCl fully reverses Pb binding, regenerating the material for up to 10 consecutive adsorption–desorption cycles.

Photogeneration of Hydrogen in Water via Self‐Assembly‐Induced Colloidal Covalent Organic Framework Particles

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2026.
A surfactant‐free strategy using a functional Poly(DiMethylAminoEthylMethAcrylate) polybase enables stable colloidal imine‐linked COFs formation via self‐assembly‐induced process. A dual effect is demonstrated with the control in size and stabilization in colloidal state of the COFs in situ synthesized.

Worsening Hypoxemia in a Patient With Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis: Role of Patent Foramen Ovale Mediated Right‐to‐Left Shunt

open access: yesSonography, Volume 13, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT PFO mediated right‐to‐left shunt was found to be responsible for worsening exertional hypoxemia in an elderly patient with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. Transcatheter PFO closure resolved the hypoxemia. This case highlights the need to evaluate intracardiac shunts in hypoxic patients, even with coexisting pulmonary pathology.
