Take another little piece of my heart: a note on bridging cognition and emotions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Science urges philosophy to be more empirical and philosophy urges science to be more reflective. This markedly occurred along the “discovery of the artificial” (CORDESCHI 2002): in the early days of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence (AI ...

Highly Active IrRuOx/MnOx Electrocatalysts with Ultralow Anode PGM Demand in Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
MnOx‐supported IrRuOx exhibits outstanding OER performance in both liquid electrolytes and real cell environments. The MnOx not only enhances the dispersion of IrRuOx but also induces a compressive strain effect. The incorporation of Ru leads to surface reconstruction.

Mixed‐Phase TiO2 Nanotubes Enhance Ru Nanoparticle Activity for Hydrogen Evolution in pH‐Neutral Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Efficient water electrolysis in NaBr electrolyte is achieved using TiO2 nanotube supports decorated with Ru nanoparticles. A cooperative “job‐sharing” effect between the TiO2 proton‐storage support that provides protons to the Ru catalyst enhances hydrogen evolution, minimizes Ru demand and polarization losses, and delivers stable performance ...

Unraveling the role of surface mucus-binding protein and pili in muco-adhesion of Lactococcus lactis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Adhesion of bacteria to mucus may favor their persistence within the gut and their beneficial effects to the host. Interactions between pig gastric mucin (PGM) and a natural isolate of Lactococcus lactis (TIL448) were measured at the single-cell scale ...

Neural Ideal Point Estimation Network

open access: yes, 2018
Understanding politics is challenging because the politics take the influence from everything. Even we limit ourselves to the political context in the legislative processes; we need a better understanding of latent factors, such as legislators, bills ...

Estimation of Water Budget Components of the Sakarya River Basin by Using the WEAP-PGM Model

open access: yesWater, 2019
The use of water resources has increased with rapid population growth, industrial development, and agricultural activities. Besides, the problem might increase with the potential climate change impacts on water quantity.

FastCat: Autonomous Discovery of Multielement Layered Double Hydroxide Alloy Catalysts for Alkaline Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐guided self‐driving laboratory screened over 500 nickel‐based layered double‐hydroxide catalysts for alkaline oxygen evolution. Out of the eight metals, the robot uncovered a quaternary Ni–Fe–Cr–Co catalysts requiring only 231 mV overpotential to reach 20 mA cm−2.

The Optimal Single Copy Measurement for the Hidden Subgroup Problem

open access: yes, 2008
The optimization of measurements for the state distinction problem has recently been applied to the theory of quantum algorithms with considerable successes, including efficient new quantum algorithms for the non-abelian hidden subgroup problem. Previous

X‐Ray Absorption Spectroscopy Characterizations on PGM‐Free Electrocatalysts: Justification, Advantages, and Limitations

open access: yesAdvances in Materials, 2018
Transition metals embedded in nitrogen‐doped carbon matrices (denoted as M‐N‐C) are the leading platinum group metal (PGM)‐free electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in acid, and are the most promising candidates for replacing platinum
