Mercury and cadmium in common cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo)
Environmental Pollution, 2000Mercury (Hg) and cadmium (Cd) in common cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo) collected in Lake Biwa, Japan and Tokyo, Japan, were investigated to elucidate the biological behaviors of these elements, and to assess exposure to these pollutants of wild, fish-eating birds. Hg and Cd concentrations were highest in the liver and kidneys, respectively.

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2016
The great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) is widely distributed in the world. Here, we report the complete mitogenome sequence of P. carbo, which was 18,995 bp long and composed of 15 protein-coding genes, 25 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and 2 control regions. Most genes were located on H-strand except for 10 tRNAs and 2 ND6 genes. In protein-coding genes,

Late breeding by Great Cormorants Phalacrocorax carbo
Seabird Journal, 2008Two distinct waves of synchronised breeding occurred at a colony of Great Cormorants Phalacrocorax carbo in west Scotland in 2007. The second wave led to young fledging in September, exceptionally late for this species locally. Evidence from elsewhere suggests that this second wave was not double-brooding (raising of two broods in one year by the same ...
