The genusAbaxisotimaGorochov (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) from China

Two new species, Abaxisotima macrocaudata sp. nov. and Abaxisotima forcipiforma sp. nov., are described and illustrated, supplemental illustrations of several known species are provided. A key to species of the genus Abaxisotima Gorochov is presented. The type specimens are deposited in the Museum of Hebei University.

An account on the Phaneropterinae (Tettigonioidea: Tettigoniidae) from the highlands of western Sabah

Based on an orthopteran survey in different parts of western Sabah, a total of 24 species from 16 genera are reported here, i.e., three species from one genus of Elimaeini, 14 species from nine genera of Holochlorini and three species from two genera of Mirolliini. Among them, four species of Holochlora new to science are described from Mount Trus Madi:

Molpa: A newly recorded genus (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) from China

The genus Molpa Walker was previously considered to be disjunctly distributed in broad-leaf rain forests in India and Malaysia. Here we report one new species Molpa dulongensis sp. nov. from subtropic broad-leaf rain forests in southwestern Yunnan Province in China. This is a part of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot area.

A key to species of the genus Abaxisotima Gorochov, 2005 is presented and a new species, i.e. Abaxisotima spiniforma sp. nov is described. We also provide a supplementary description of Abaxisotima bicolor (Liu, Zheng & Xia, 1991). All specimens are deposited in the Museum of Hebei University.

Pair-Forming Phonotaxic Strategies of Phaneropterine Katydids (Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae)

Species of Phaneropterinae form sexual pairs as a result of males and/or females moving toward the sounds produced by the opposite sex. A heretofore undetermined pair-forming phonotaxic strategy is described in which conspecific males and females simultaneously move toward constant intensity sounds produced by the opposite sex.

The role of female specimens in taxonomic and systematic studies, as well as the significance of accurate matching of males and females, especially among syntopic congeners, are highlighted. One hundred and twelve (112) species and subspecies of Phaneropterinae (36) and Tettigoniinae (76) are examined.
