Experimental Studies of Phase Change and Microencapsulated Phase Change Materials in a Cold Storage/Transportation System with Solar Driven Cooling Cycle

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The paper presents the different properties of phase change material (PCM) and Microencapsulated phase change material (MEPCM) employed to cold storage/transportation system with a solar-driven cooling cycle. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) tests

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Dynamic Simulations of Phase-Change Emulsions in Cooling Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
The application of phase change material emulsions (PCMEs) in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is considered to be a potential way of saving energy due to their relatively higher energy storage capacity compared with water.

Chalcogenide-based phase-change metamaterials

open access: yes, 2014
Phase-change metamaterials combine the sharp resonant dispersions afforded by metamaterials with the optical switching characteristics of phase-change chalcogenides to create a high-contrast, non-volatile planar optical modulator.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

A novel top-down fabrication process for Ge2Sb2Te5 phase change material nanowires

open access: yes, 2013
A novel e-beam free, top-down spacer etch process was used to fabricate sub-hundred nanometer Ge2Sb2Te5 phase change nanowires. Naowires with a cross-section dimension of 50 nm × 100 nm (width × height) were obtained and phase change functionality ...

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Laser direct writing metalens with phase change material and application

open access: yes, 2021
Gu, TingyiWith the further study of phase change materials, more applications have been found to applied in many industries. The idea of photonic integrated circuit has come up as the mature electrical circuit is getting hard to meet demand of higher ...

Modeling InSe Phase-change Materials

open access: yesMRS Proceedings, 2003
ABSTRACTThe amorphous structure of InxSey has been studied by a first principles tight-binding molecular dynamics technique using the program package PLATO (Package for Linear-combination of Atomic Type Orbitals). The three-dimensional amorphous structures with different densities were prepared by quick quenching from the liquid phase.
