Bioimpedance basics and phase angle fundamentals
AbstractMeasurement of phase angle using bioimpedance analysis (BIA) has become popular as an index of so-called “cellular health”. What precisely is meant by this term is not always clear but strong relationships have been found between cellular water status (the relative amounts of extra- and intracellular water), cell membrane integrity and cellular

Abstract Any interactive computer-aided design technique for multivariable feedback systems is critically dependent on the deployment of an appropriate set of indicators with Which to assess stability, performance and robustness. Appropriate generalizations of the classical feedback concepts of gain and phase are developed for this purpose.

Geometric quantum phase and angles
Physical Review D, 1988The geometric phase in quantum mechanics is formulated for charged particles in a gauge-invariant, geometric manner. It is then extended to an evolution resulting from a sequence of measurements as in the work of Pancharatnam and Aharonov and Vardi. Its close connection to the Feynman formulation of quantum mechanics is pointed out.

The Berry phase and the Hannay angle
Physical Review D, 1988The analysis provided by Berry of the extra phase acquired by a system undergoing adiabatic excursion in a closed path in parameter space is extended in this paper to the case of nonstationary states. It is shown that, for certain integrable dynamical systems, wave packets exist which under continuation in parameter space behave in a manner that can be

The Diagnostic Value of Phase-Angle Tympanograms
International Journal of Audiology, 1981The diagnostic value of susceptance, conductance, resistance, reactance, admittance and phase-angle tympanograms is compared. Phase-angle tympanograms seem to be best suited for the discrimination between normal W patterns and broad irregular curves obtained from ossicular disruptions, luxations and necroses.

Phase angle and mortality: a systematic review
European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2018The phase angle, expressed through bioelectrical impedance, has been studied as a prognostic marker in several health conditions. As this issue is still conflicting, the question whether this parameter correlates with mortality in the most diverse clinical situations remains.

Phase Transitions in Angle Variables
Physical Review Letters, 2003Phase transitions in angle variables are studied. An example of angular phase transition, an axially to triaxially deformed "shape" transition in nuclei, is discussed. Spectroscopic signatures for the occurrence of these transitions are suggested. Preliminary experimental evidence is presented.

Phase angle as a marker for sarcopenia in cirrhosis
Clinical Nutrition ESPEN, 2019In patients with cirrhosis nutritional disturbances can progress to sarcopenia, worsening the disease prognosis. Phase angle (PA) may be a useful marker for sarcopenia in this clinical population reflecting the cellular integrity level. This cross-sectional and prospective study evaluated the association between low PA values and clinical/nutritional ...

The Phase Angle of Current Transformers
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1915A method of testing the phase angle of current transformers by comparing readings obtained on a wattmeter whose current circuit is first connected to receive a part of the primary current (the remainder of the primary current passing in shunt through resistance) and then connected to the secondary circuit; the potential circuit is supplied from the ...

A phase angle standard for power frequencies (40–400 Hz) with a very low measuring uncertainty of 3 µrad is developed. The standard is based on a two-channel high-stability arbitrary waveform AC source for voltages up to 120 V and currents up to 6 A with high phase angle resolution which is realized as a development device with full computer control.
