Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Analysis of a cold store with phase change material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Thermal energy storage systems provide the potential to attain energy savings and reduce the environmental impact related to energy use. In this respect, phase change materials (PCMs) work as ‘‘latent heat storage units’’ which store or release large ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Phase Transition Dynamics of Phase Change Material in the Grille-Capsule Packed Channel

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions
Phase change thermal energy storage technology, with its high energy storage density and near-isothermal heat release characteristics, serves as an effective solution to address the intermittency and fluctuation issues in solar energy utilization ...

Synthesis and temperature control performance of TBAB/TBAHSO4 hydrate composite phase change material

open access: yesGongneng cailiao yu qijian xuebao
The cold energy storage technology based on phase change material (PCM) has received a lot of attention for its ability to effectively reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional refrigerated transport methods.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
