Phase control of the Pancharatnam phase

Physical Review A, 2009
We propose a method to control the atomic dynamics in the presence of electromagnetic fields. Instead of measuring the population dynamics, we focus on the possibility of controlling the Pancharatnam phase. For a two-level system we find that this phase can be optically induced and controlled by the phase shift.

Phase-Controlled Converters

2017
We saw in the preceding chapter how diodes can be used to rectify an ac input voltage to produce an uncontrolled dc output. These circuits—whether half-wave or full-wave configurations under resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads—have one common feature: The level of the output voltage is a function only of the circuit parameters and the peak ...

Quantum Phase Control of Entanglement

Physical Review Letters, 2004
A method of phase control of entanglement in two-qubit systems is proposed. We show that by changing a relative phase of the pulses that drive the transitions in a two-qubit system with closed-loop couplings, one can control entanglement at will. The method relies on adiabatic dynamics via time-delayed pulse sequences and can be implemented with both ...

ac Phase Control

1986
One of the simplest single-phase ac phase-control circuits is shown in Fig. 9–1. The voltage impressed on the load is controlled by changing the phase-control angle α. Usually a symmetrical output is required so that each SCR is gated at the same α. Of course, a given SCR is gated only on alternate half-cycles.

Phase 5: Controlling

2003

All-optical phase-controlled phase modulators

Journal of the Optical Society of America B
In this study, we aim to develop an all-optical, phase-controlled modulator composed of lasers, optical directional couplers, optical amplifiers, and phase shifters. By employing a two-layer multilayer perceptron with matrix inversion, we determine the coupling ratios of the directional couplers and the phase delays of the phase shifters.

Phase Control of Neural Pacemakers

Science, 1977
An electrical stimulus resets the phase of a spontaneously rhythmic neuron. The "new phase" versus "old phase" curve shows either of two distinct topological characters, depending on the stimulus magnitude. These features, and a phase singularity implicit in them, are common to many stable oscillations deriving from continuous feedback between two or ...

HEL Phase Control

1979
Abstract : This report summarizes progress toward a solution to the problem of HEL control-loop instability in the presence of thermal blooming. Current phase-control-loop structure is analyzed, and a dual-loop structure is proposed. A correspoding closed-loop phase-compensation control algorithm is also proposed, and its fundamental requirements ...
