A High-Resolution LED Stimulator for Steady-State Visual Stimulation: Customizable, Affordable, and Open Source

open access: yesSensors
Visually evoked steady-state potentials (SSVEPs) are neural responses elicited by visual stimuli oscillating at specific frequencies. In this study, we introduce a novel LED stimulator system explicitly designed for steady-state visual stimulation ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Two Scenarios of Breaking Chaotic Phase Synchronization

open access: yes, 2007
Two types of phase synchronization (accordingly, two scenarios of breaking phase synchronization) between coupled stochastic oscillators are shown to exist depending on the discrepancy between the control parameters of interacting oscillators, as in the ...

Direct torque control for dual three-phase induction motor drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A direct torque control (DTC) strategy for dual three-phase induction motor drives is discussed in this paper. The induction machine has two sets of stator three-phase windings spatially shifted by 30 electrical degrees.

Directly Emitting a High-Power Phase-Locked Laser Array by an Internal Phase Sensing System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
In this article, we experimentally presented a compact, packaged high-power coherent fiber laser array based on an internal phase sensing technique. In the experiment, a laser array with three beamlets was utilized for experimental presentation.

Review of terahertz gradient metasurface

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2019
Metasurface, a novel artificial electromagnetic material, its thickness is much smaller than the wavelength. By regulating the interaction between the sub-wavelength unit structure and the electromagnetic wave, the wave will undergo a phase or amplitude ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Optical manipulation of Berry phase in a solid-state spin qubit

open access: yes, 2015
The phase relation between quantum states represents an essential resource for the storage and processing of quantum information. While quantum phases are commonly controlled dynamically by tuning energetic interactions, utilizing geometric phases that ...

Impaired Postural Control Reduces Sit-to-Stand-to-Sit Performance in Individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Functional activities, such as the sit-to-stand-to-sit (STSTS) task, are often impaired in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
