The phase diagram of hadronic matter [PDF]
We interpret the phase structure of hadronic matter in terms of the basic dynamical and geometrical features of hadrons. Increasing the density of constituents of finite spatial extension, by increasing the temperature T or the baryochemical potential mu, eventually "fills the box" and eliminates the physical vacuum.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

x-T phase diagram of La-substituted BiFeO3-PbTiO3
Single-phase polycrystalline powders of 0.5(Bi1-xLax)FeO3-0.5PbTiO3 solid-solution were synthesized for x ≤ 0.3 using solid-state reaction method. The mixed crystals exhibit a tetragonal structure at ambient and the c/a ratio decreases with x.

Ferromagnetism in QCD phase diagram
A possibility and properties of spontaneous magnetization in quark matter are investigated. Magnetic susceptibility is evaluated within Fermi liquid theory, taking into account of the screening effect of gluons.

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Population size and dynamics fundamentally shape speciation by influencing genetic drift, founder events, and adaptive potential. Small populations may speciate rapidly due to stronger drift, whereas large populations harbor more genetic diversity, which can alter divergence trajectories. We highlight theoretical models that incorporate population size

Phase diagram of a flexible two-dimensional material
Transport and elastic properties of freestanding two-dimensional materials are determined by competition between dynamical and quenched out-of-plane deformations, i.e., between flexural phonons and ripples, respectively.

The phase diagram gadolinium fluoride - lutetium fluoride was determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray powder diffraction analysis. Both pure components undergo a reversible first order transformation to a high temperature phase. The mutual solubility of both components is unlimited in the orthorhombic room temperature phase. The
