Inhomogeneous phases in the Nambu-Jona-Lasino and quark-meson model

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss inhomogeneous ground states of the Nambu-Jona-Lasino (NJL) and quark-meson (QM) model within mean-field approximation and their possible existence in the respective phase diagrams. For this purpose we focus on lower dimensional modulations and

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Percolative Model for Nanoscale Phase Separation in High Temperature Superconductors

open access: yes, 2001
The nature of the phase diagrams of HTSC is clarified by discussing two kinds of phase diagrams, that of the host crystalline lattice, and that of the dopant glass.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Phase structure of a holographic double monolayer Dirac semimetal

open access: yes, 2016
We study a holographic D3/probe-D5-brane model of a double monolayer Dirac semimetal in a magnetic field and in the presence of a nonzero temperature.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Fixed Volume Effect on Polar Properties and Phase Diagrams of Ferroelectric Semi-ellipsoidal Nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2018
For advanced applications in modern industry it is very important to reduce the volume of ferroelectric nanoparticles without serious deterioration of their polar properties.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Calculation of Gallium-metal-Arsenic phase diagrams [PDF]

open access: yes
Electrical contacts and metallization to GaAs solar cells must survive at high temperatures for several minutes under specific mission scenarios. The determination of which metallizations or alloy systems that are able to withstand extreme thermal ...

Homogeneity and Size Effects on the Liquid-Gas Coexistence Curve

open access: yes, 2003
The effects of (in)homogeneity and size on the phase diagram of Lennard-Jones fluids are investigated. It is shown that standard multifragmentation scenarios (finite equilibrated systems with conserved center of mass position and momentum) are implying a
