Theoretical Considerations about Phase Growth and Phase Formation

MRS Proceedings, 1995
AbstractThe first part of this paper constitutes a summary account of reactive phase formation as seen from a purely kinetic point of view. In the longer second part a more detailed analysis of phase formation based on microscopic, and calorimetric observations is presented. It is shown that these phenomena also tend to be dominated by kinetic factors.

Metastable phase formation under irradiation

Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1988
A short survey is presented of recent advances in the theory of stability criteria for phases under irradiation. The reason why standard thermodynamical criteria do not apply is discussed. As an example we show that among the many cases of irradiation induced stabilization of metastable phases, some are simple enough to deserve a detailed quantitative ...

Initial phase of protostar formation

Astrophysics, 2012
Observational data on an active star formation region in the dense molecular cloud Orion KL in the form of H2O maser emission are analyzed in terms of a hydrodynamic whirlwind mechanism for the excitation of bipolar outflows from the disk system. The whirlwind theory for the excitation of bipolar flows from the disk system is found to provide a first ...

Phase stability, phase transformation, and reactive phase formation in electronic materials

JOM, 2007
The development of electronic products has dramatically changed the life of human beings in the last decade, and its amazing infl uence continues. Phase stability, phase transformation, and reactive phase formation in electronic materials are crucial to the properties and reliability of electronic products.

Stability and intermediate phase formation

Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1985
A close relation between thermal data and the thermodynamic stability of intermetallic compounds is pointed out. Several series of intermediate phases formed by metals of theA and transition groups with elements of groups IB to IVB have been considered.

Re-Formation: The Second Phase

1993
Abstract The government of Ibrahim ‘Abd al-Hadi was replaced on 26 July 1949 by that of Husayn Sirri Pasha, in which the Wafd participated until November, when a new cabinet was formed, parliament was dissolved, and preparations were begun by Sirri to hold new elections.

Crystal Growth and Phase Formation

1983
Crystal growth usually occurs by a first order phase change: that is, a phase change in which the two phases co-exist and the transformation proceeds by the motion of an interface between them. The interface can traverse the sample substantially at a single temperature and so the finite heat which is released at this temperature results in an infinite ...
