Compensation of IQ imbalance and phase noise in OFDM systems

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2005
Nowadays, a lot of effort is spent on developing inexpensive orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) receivers. Especially, zero intermediate frequency (zero-IF) receivers are very appealing, because they avoid costly IF filters. However, zero-IF front-ends also introduce significant additional front-end distortion, such as IQ imbalance ...

Performance Analysis of OTFS Under In-Phase and Quadrature Imbalance at Transmitter

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2021
The influence of in-phase and quadrature (IQ) imbalance on the performance of orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) transmission is investigated in this work. OTFS is a recent two-dimensional transmission scheme with promising robustness against the time and frequency selectivity of the time-varying wireless channel, and IQ impairment arises from ...

Clock phase imbalance and phase noise in RF N-path filters

2015 European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design (ECCTD), 2015
The quality of RF N-path filtering is limited by the performance of the involved multiphase clock. The paper presents analysis of critical clock imperfections. The phase imbalance that gives rise to an extra image band located at second harmonic frequency is analyzed by a linear periodically varying (LPV) model of a 4-path filter where the respective ...

Calibration of In-Phase/Quadrature Amplitude and Phase Response Imbalance for Coherent Receiver

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
We propose an In-phase/Quadrature imbalance calibration method which only uses the transceiver itself for coherent receiver. Experiment shows that IQ skew calibration accuracy reaches 0.2 ps and the method is robust to many practical imperfections.

Dealing with Gene-Dosage Imbalance during S Phase

Trends in Genetics, 2016
DNA replication perturbs the dosage balance between genes that replicate early during S phase and those that replicate late. If propagated to influence protein content, this dosage imbalance could influence cellular functions. In bacteria, mechanisms have evolved to use this imbalance to tune certain processes with the rate of cell growth. By contrast,

Compensation for phase and amplitude imbalance in quadrature Doppler signals

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1996
Quadrature phase detection is widely used in ultrasound Doppler systems to obtain directional information about flow velocities in blood vessels. The presence of phase and/or gain imbalance between the quadrature outputs produces crosstalk between the forward and reverse channels which may introduce errors into mean and maximum velocity estimates and ...

Calibration of End-to-End Phase Imbalance of Polarimetric Radiometers

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
In this paper, the authors introduce a method for calibrating the end-to-end phase imbalance of polarimetric radiometers using a digital correlation technique. The method is based on the measurement of linearly polarized field at -45deg and +45deg angles with respect to the polarization plane of the transmitted field.

Effects of phase imbalance on data center energy management

20th Annual International Conference on High Performance Computing, 2013
Phase imbalance has been considered as a source of inefficiency in the data center that causes energy loss due to line impedance and increases reactive power. Strategies assume high loss due to phase imbalance and propose sophisticated energy management algorithms including phase balance aware workload scheduling algorithm and dynamic power ...

Correction of in phase-quadrature imbalance in the presence of multipath fading

2014 Australian Communications Theory Workshop (AusCTW), 2014
The presence of in-phase/quadrature (I/Q) imbalance in a dual branch receiver gives rise to signal distortion. If the incoming signal is also corrupted by multipath fading, then the task of correcting or compensating for these two forms of distortion becomes technically very challenging.

On transmitter gain/phase imbalance compensation at receiver

IEEE Communications Letters, 2000
This letter explores the benefits of compensating for transmitter gain and phase imbalances in a receiver for quadrature communication systems. It is assumed that the gain and phase imbalances are introduced at the transmitter only. The Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure is used at the receiver to compensate for the imbalances.
