Neighborhood Socioeconomic Status and Short‐Term Functional Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can accumulate functional status (FS) impairment. We evaluated the association between neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage, as measured by the Area Deprivation Index (ADI), and FS in a national SLE sample.

Regulation of poly-GlcNAc expression and fimbriation in uropathogenic "E. coli" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The transition of planktonic to sessile lifestyles in bacteria rests upon a tightly controlled program that gets triggered by the environmental composition and whose implementation requires multiple feedback controls. Uropathogenic E.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Supplementary Data Tables and Figures for Koski et al. 2018 from Linking pollinator efficiency to patterns of pollen limitation: small bees exploit the plant–pollinator mutualism

open access: yes, 2018
Seemingly mutualistic relationships can be exploited, in some cases reducing fitness of the exploited species. In plants, the insufficient receipt of pollen limits reproduction.

Exploration of Pseudobinary Alloys (Al–Mn)‐(Co–Fe–Ni) to Design High‐Entropy and Compositionally Complex Alloys to Stabilize the τ Phase in Al–Mn‐Based Ferromagnetic Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This experimental study investigates the thermodynamic limits of the Al–Mn τ ferromagnetic phase within complex‐composition alloys (CCAs). Using nine rare‐earth‐free compositions, it explores a broad region of the pseudobinary AlMnCoFeNi system. The results reveal intricate links between composition, phase stability, and magnetic behavior, highlighting

Cross‐Linked Protein Crystals With an Intense Nonconventional Full‐Color Photoluminescence Originating From Through‐Space Intermolecular Interaction

open access: yesAggregate
The emergence of nonconventional luminescent materials (NLMs) has attracted significant attention due to their sustainable synthesis and tunable optical properties. Yet, establishing a clear structure–emission relationship remains a challenge.
