Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Reinvestigation of Single-Phase FLLs

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Besides well-known phase-locked loops, frequency-locked loops (FLLs) are applicable to grid synchronization for grid-tied power converters. The models, principles, and algorithm structures of existing notch filter-based single-phase FLLs are often ...

Binary phase detector gain in bang-bang phase-locked loops with DCO jitter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bang-bang phase-locked loops (BBPLLs) are hard nonlinear systems due to the nonlinearity introduced by the binary phase detector (BPD). In the presence of jitter, the nonlinear loop is typically analyzed by linearizing the BPD and applying linear ...

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Sideband locking of a single-section semiconductor distributed-feedback laser in an optical phase-lock loop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The bandwidth and performance of optical phase-lock loops (OPLLs) using single-section semiconductor lasers (SCLs) are severely limited by the nonuniform frequency modulation response of the lasers.

CO2 Reduction on Copper‐Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Catalysts Tuned by Pulsed Potential Electrolysis: Effect of Pulse Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.
