The objective of statistical physics is to derive the macroscopic (thermodynamic) properties of matter from the laws of mechanics that govern the motion of its microscopic constituents. Note that in this context microscopic may have different meanings. Indeed, although it is common to consider that matter is made of atoms or molecules (something known ...

Phase transition in supersymmetric matter
Physical Review D, 1986We consider a supersymmetric U(1) gauge model at high temperature. It is shown that the gauge symmetry is restored at high temperature while supersymmetry remains broken. The fermionic partner of the supersymmetric matter exhibits a first-order discontinuous behavior at the critical temperature as the gauge symmetry shows a smooth or discontinuous ...

Phase structure of strange matter
Physical Review D, 1993We present a detailed discussion of the phase structure of hadronic matter with finite strangeness content and discuss the thermodynamic conditions for the formation of metastable strange quark droplets ( strangelets'') in relativistic nuclear collisions.

Topological Phases of Matter are an exceptionally dynamic field of research: several of the most exciting recent experimental discoveries and conceptual advances in modern physics have originated in this field. These have generated new, topological, notions of order, interactions and excitations.

Nuclear-matter—quark-matter phase diagram with strangeness
Physical Review D, 1989A phenomenological equation of state of strongly interacting matter, including strange degrees of freedom, is presented. It is shown that the hyperon and kaon interactions must be included, in order to obtain a reasonable description of the deconfinement transition at high baryon densities.
