Equation for Condensed Matter Phase Transitions
Russian Physics Journal, 2021Concludes combined equation for the pressure drop in the apparatus with stationary and fluidized granular layer, and the resulting recursive equation is used to calculate phase transitions of matter, from the atomic granularity of matter to granular (particulate) material.

Phase Transitions of Nuclear Matter
Nature, 1939THE distribution of capture cross-sections of slow neutrons reveals a surprising concentration of strongly absorbing elements in the region of the rare earths1. As has been pointed out2, this fact may be explained in the simplest way by the supposition that the mean spacings between the resonance capture levels of slow neutrons have a minimum in this ...

A phase diagram for jammed matter
Nature, 2008The problem of finding the most efficient way to pack spheres has a long history, dating back to the crystalline arrays conjectured by Kepler and the random geometries explored by Bernal. Apart from its mathematical interest, the problem has practical relevance in a wide range of fields, from granular processing to fruit packing.

Matter, quantum gravity, and adiabatic phase
Physical Review D, 1990Based on the observation that particle masses are much smaller than the Planck mass, a framework for the matter-gravity system in which matter follows gravitation adiabatically is examined in a path-integral approach. It is found that the equations that the resulting gravitational wave function satisfies involve, in addition to the expectation value of

This modern text describes the remarkable developments in quantum condensed matter physics following the experimental discoveries of quantum Hall effects and high temperature superconductivity in the 1980s. After a review of the phases of matter amenable to an independent particle description, entangled phases of matter are described in an accessible ...

Phases of Atom-Molecule Vortex Matter
Physical Review Letters, 2008We study ground state vortex configurations in a rotating atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensate. It is found that the coherent coupling between the atomic and molecular condensates can render a pairing of atomic and molecular vortices into a composite structure that resembles a carbon dioxide molecule.

Phase-Coherent Amplification of Matter Waves
Science, 1999Phase-coherent matter-wave amplification was demonstrated using Bose- Einstein–condensed rubidium-87 atoms. A small seed matter wave was created with coherent optical Bragg diffraction. Amplification of this seed matter wave was achieved by using the initial condensate as a gain medium through the superradiance effect.

Various stability problems have been addressed in the preceding chapters, particularly in Chapter 3 where we discussed briefly the stability of the equilibrium states of macroscopic systems. These states are defined by, and are functions of thermodynamic variables which themselves range over certain domains.
