Phase noise in distributed oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2002
The phase noise of a distributed oscillator is evaluated very simply by identifying an effective capacitance equal to the total capacitance distributed along the transmission lines. The contributions of the various passive and active noise sources to the total phase noise are calculated revealing several guidelines for improved distributed oscillator ...

Noise-induced synchronization for phase turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters A, 2003
Phase turbulence is suppressed by applying common noise additively to the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky type equation, and the noise-induced phase synchronization is realized. The noise strength necessary for the suppression of phase turbulence is evaluated theoretically.

PHASE AND FREQUENCY NOISE METROLOGY [PDF]

open access: yesFrequency Standards and Metrology, 2009
As a consequence of a general trend in the physics of oscillators and clocks towards optics, phase and frequency metrology is rapidly moving to optics too. Yet, optics is not replacing the traditional radio-frequency (RF) and microwave domains. Instead, it adds tough challenges.

Coherence Resonance Behavior of FitzHugh-Nagumo Neurons Induced by Electromagnetic Field Driven by Phase Noise

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2022
Noise exists widely in the nervous system, and plays a crucial role in the nervous system information processing. Noise can not only enhance but also weaken the ability of the nervous system to process information.

Phase noise and amplitude noise in DDS [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium Proceedings, 2012
Their article reports on the measurement of phase noise and amplitude noise of direct digital synthesizers (DDS), ultimately intended for precision time and frequency applications. The DDS noise S ϕ (f) tends to scale down as 1/ν 0 2, until the noise hits the limit due to the output stage.

Phase-Noise and Amplitude-Noise Measurement of DACs and DDSs [PDF]

open access: yes2019 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF/IFC), 2019
This article proposes a method for the measurement of Phase Noise (PN, or PM noise) and Amplitude Noise (AN, or AM noise) of Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) and Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDS) based on modulation-index amplification. The carrier is first reduced by a controlled amount (30-40 dB) by adding a reference signal of nearly equal ...

Single-Stage Injection-Locked Frequency Sixtupler in CMOS Process

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
High multiplication-factor even-modulus frequency multipliers are often configured as multi series frequency multipliers. This paper designs a single-stage $LC$ -tank injection locked frequency sixtupler (ILFS) fabricated in $0.18~\mu \text{m}$ CMOS ...

Performance Evaluation and Diversity Analysis of RIS-Assisted Communications Over Generalized Fading Channels in the Presence of Phase Noise

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, 2022
In this paper, we develop a unified theoretical framework for analyzing the outage performance of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs)-assisted communication systems over generalized fading channels and in the presence of phase noise.

Influence of local oscillator phase noise on noise figure of wideband receiver

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2020
Based on the analysis of the influence of wide-band local oscillator with different phase noise on the received noise figure of the wideband receiver, a wideband mixer is used to actually test to obtain the phase noise of the mixer IF signal, through the

Virtual damping and Einstein relation in oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents a new physical theory of oscillator phase noise. Built around the concept of phase diffusion, this work bridges the fundamental physics of noise and existing oscillator phase-noise theories.
