Passive optical phase noise cancellation [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2020
We report on the realization of an optical phase noise cancellation technique by passively embedding the optical phase noise information into a radio frequency signal and creating a copy of the optical frequency signal, which is pre-corrected by the amount of phase noise introduced by optical phase perturbations.

Phase noise in RF and microwave amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium, 2010
Understanding the amplifier phase noise is a critical issue in numerous fields of engineering and physics, like oscillators, frequency synthesis, telecommunications, radars, spectroscopy, in the emerging domain of microwave photonics, and in more exotic domains like radio astronomy, particle accelerators, etc.

The Effect of Phase Noise in OCDM

open access: yesGLOBECOM 2023 - 2023 IEEE Global Communications Conference, 2023
With the rollout of 5G wireless networks and its disruption of various markets, researchers have already started to envision 6G communication. The next-generation communication is expected to provide very high data rate with high reliability, even at severe time and frequency selective wireless channels.

Pilot-aided carrier synchronization using an approximate DCT-based phase noise model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This contribution deals with phase noise estimation from pilot symbols. The phase noise process is approximated by an expansion of DCT basis functions containing only a few terms.

Phase Noise Influence in a Dual-Frequency Laser Phase-Shift Range Finder

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
The influence of phase noise in a dual-frequency laser phase-shift range finder is theoretically and experimentally investigated. The proposed range finder is based on the use of a coherent dual-frequency laser and direct detection of the backscattered ...

Effect of dispersion on nonlinear phase noise [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2006
The variance of nonlinear phase noise is analyzed by including the effect of intrachannel cross-phase modulation (IXPM)-induced nonlinear phase noise. Consistent with Ho and Wang [1] but in contrary to the conclusion of both Kumar [2] and Green et al.

Quantum-enhanced phase estimation using optical spin squeezing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Quantum metrology enables estimation of optical phase shifts with precision beyond the shot-noise limit. One way to exceed this limit is to use squeezed states, where the quantum noise of one observable is reduced at the expense of increased quantum ...

Analytical Investigations on Carrier Phase Recovery in Dispersion-Unmanaged n-PSK Coherent Optical Communication Systems

open access: yesPhotonics, 2016
Using coherent optical detection and digital signal processing, laser phase noise and equalization enhanced phase noise can be effectively mitigated using the feed-forward and feed-back carrier phase recovery approaches.

Digital Tri-Axis Accelerometer with X/Y-Axial Resonators and Z-Axial Capacitive Seesaw

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
A tri-axis accelerometer with a digital readout circuit and communication system is introduced. It is composed of two resonant accelerometers in the x and y-axis, and a seesaw capacitive one in the z-axis. The device is encapsulated in air to ensure that
