Clearing a path for light through non-Hermitian media

open access: yesNanophotonics
The performance of all active photonic devices today is greatly limited by loss. Here, we show that one can engineer a low loss path in a metal-clad lossy multi-mode waveguide while simultaneously achieving high-performance active photonic devices.

Ironic Medications: A Narrative‐Based Psycho‐Educational Intervention to Explore Patient–Provider Communication in Adolescents With Haematological Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adolescents with haematological malignancies face significant emotional and relational challenges, often accompanied by difficulties in communicating their needs within the healthcare context. To address these issues, a narrative‐based psycho‐educational intervention based on the creation and prescription of Ironic Medications was ...

MmWave MIMO Hybrid Precoding Design Using Phase Shifters and Switches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
To reduce the number of phase shifters for analog precoding in millimeter wave massive multiple-input multiple-output communications, we investigate the hybrid use of expensive phase shifters and low-cost switches. Different from the existing fixed phase

Compact Multi-Wideband Array for Millimeter-Wave Communications Using Squint Beams

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Millimeter-wave (mmWave) cellular systems leverage the hybrid analog-digital structure to balance the costs and the capacity performance by using fewer Radio Frequency (RF) chains and the spatial sparsity of the channel.

Rethinking Figure-of-Merits of Liquid Crystals Shielded Coplanar Waveguide Phase Shifters at 60 GHz

open access: yesJ, 2021
The demand for reconfigurable millimetre-wave (mm-Wave) components based on highly anisotropic liquid crystals (LC) is higher than ever before for the UK and worldwide.

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Immunoglobulin Depletion and Recovery Following Blinatumomab in Infants With KMT2A‐Rearranged ALL

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adding blinatumomab to standard chemotherapy for infants with KMT2A‐rearranged acute B‐cell lymphoblastic leukemia (KMT2A‐r B‐ALL) improves outcomes. Although blinatumomab impairs immunoglobulin G (lgG) production, increasing infection susceptibility, IgG recovery remains poorly understood.

Broadband tunable phase shifter for microwaves [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We implement a broadly tunable phase shifter for microwaves based on superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) and study it both experimentally and theoretically. At different frequencies, a unit transmission coefficient, |S21| = 1, can be theoretically achieved along a curve where the phase shift is controllable by the magnetic flux.

Inpatient Exposure, Confidence, and Knowledge in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: Evaluating General Pediatric Residents During 2025 ACGME Curriculum Change

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background General pediatricians often evaluate hematologic and oncologic presentations before subspecialty consultation, yet the 2025 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) pediatric requirements reduce inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology (PHO) time, raising questions about resident readiness.

Delay-line stabilized microwave oscillator with frequency control [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The technique whereby the frequency of an oscillator is stabilized using an external feedback network incorporating a delay-line is extended in this thesis ...
