Phase transition in a supersymmetric theory
Physical Review D, 1986We study the thermodynamics of a globally supersymmetric theory in the presence of a net background of ''charge'' associated with a continuous symmetry. We solve exactly a prototypical model involving two chiral superfields in the weak-coupling limit and demonstrate the existence of a second-order phase transition associated with the spontaneous ...

Cyclic orbital interactions are contained in non-cyclic conjugation as well as cyclic conjugation. For effective interactions, the orbitals are required to meet simultaneously the phase continuity conditions: (1) out of phase relation between electron-donating orbitals; (2) in phase relation between electron-accepting orbitals and between electron ...

By considering the effect of unitary transformations on the path integral for a gauge field interacting with a fermion over a suitable manifold, we generalize the Berry phase to field theory. The resulting framework is gauge invariant and offers insight into some problems.

Phase transition in the electroweak theory
Physical Review D, 1993A simple, almost analytic method, to be called harmonic approximation, is proposed to calculate the action of the bounce solution in the electroweak theory. A modified thin-wall approximation is also described. The result of the harmonic approximation is in good agreement, in the region of interest, with that obtained by numerical integration of the ...

This book provides a detailed and up to date review of the framework of phases (Chomsky 2000 and subsequent work). It explores the interaction between the narrow syntactic computation and the external systems from a minimalist perspective. As has sometimes been noted, Phase Theory is the current way to study the cyclic nature of the system, and 'phases'

Phase Theory is the latest empirical and conceptual innovation in syntactic theory within the Chomskyan generative tradition. Adopting a cross-linguistic perspective, this book provides an introduction to Phase Theory, tracing the development of phases in minimalist syntax.

Phase diagram of electroweak theory
Physical Review D, 1990There is some controversy in the literature concerning the phase diagram of electroweak theory, particularly when {ital W}-boson condensation occurs. Problems with previous calculations are pointed out and the thermodynamic potential is recalculated. Limitations of current theoretical approaches are found and suggestions are made on how to improve the ...

Phase Theory and Phase Sliding
2010This chapter reviews the core aspects of Chomsky’s Phase Theory, paying special attention to the notion of phase (the current counterpart of cycles, barriers, and bounding nodes), the different criteria that have been invoked to characterize them, the data that have been used to argue for them, and the arguments that have been used to criticize them. Theory of the morphotropic phase boundary
Ferroelectrics, 2001A Landau theory is presented for the morphotropic phase boundaries in the solid solution system of perovskite-type oxide ferroelectrics. The origin of useful functions of materials located close to the morphotropic phase boundary are attributed to the isotropy of the thermodynamic potential.
