Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Signatures of unstable semiclassical trajectories in tunneling

open access: yes, 2009
It was found recently that processes of multidimensional tunneling are generally described at high energies by unstable semiclassical trajectories. We study two observational signatures related to the instability of trajectories.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Optimum Path Synthesis of a Geared Five-Bar Mechanism

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Most studies on path synthesis problems are to trace simple or smooth trajectories. In this work, an optimum synthesis for several special trajectories generated by a geared five-bar mechanism is studied using the one-phase synthesis method.

Trajectory Generation from Motion Capture for a Planar Biped Robot in Swing Phase

open access: yesIngeniería y Ciencia, 2015
This paper proposes human motion capture to generate movements for the right leg in swing phase of a biped robot restricted to the sagittal plane. Such movements are defined by time functions representing the desired angular positions for the joints ...

Gait Trajectory and Gait Phase Prediction Based on an LSTM Network

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Lower body segment trajectory and gait phase prediction is crucial for the control of assistance-as-needed robotic devices, such as exoskeletons. In order for a powered exoskeleton with phase-based control to determine and provide proper assistance to ...

Calibration of atomic trajectories in a large-area dual-atom-interferometer gyroscope

open access: yes, 2017
We propose and demonstrate a method for calibrating atomic trajectories in a large-area dual-atom-interferometer gyroscope. The atom trajectories are monitored by modulating and delaying the Raman transition, and they are precisely calibrated by ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

STABILITY OF THE REST POINTS FRACTIONAL OSCILLATOR FITZHUGH-NAGUMO

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2019
In this paper, using the qualitative analysis, we studied the stability of the point of rest of the fractional oscillator FitzHugh-Nagumo in commensurate and incommensurable cases.

Phase Plane Trajectories of the Muscle Spike Potential

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1963
To facilitate a study of the transmembrane action current, the striated muscle spike potential was recorded against its first time derivative. The specialized recording methods are described, as well as several mathematical transformations between a coordinate system in V, t, and the present coordinate system in V, dV/dt.
