Interaction and evolution of phases at the coating/substrate interface in galvannealed 3rd Gen AHSS with high Si content

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Optimization of the galvannealing for cutting-edge 3rd generation AHSS requires detailed structural and chemical characterization. Alloying elements such as Si dramatically modify the steel surface, forming an oxide layer during pre-annealing, which ...

Modelling of stress field during Submerged Arc Weld surfacing taking into account heat of the weld and phase transformation effect [PDF]

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Industrial Networks and Intelligent Systems, 2018
In work the model of stress calculation and analysis of stress field during single-pass SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) surfacing have been presented. In temperature field solution the temperature changes caused by the heat of weld and by electric arc have ...

Synthesis, Properties and Photocatalytic Activity of CaTiO3-Based Ceramics Doped with Lanthanum

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
The aim of this work is to study the effect of lanthanum doping on the phase formation processes in ceramics based on CaTiO3, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the ceramics as photocatalysts for the decomposition of the organic dye Rhodamine B.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Versatile Layered Hydroxide Precursors for Generic Synthesis of Cu‐Based Materials

open access: yesSmall Structures, 2023
The ability to mix multiple elements in a structure is crucial for obtaining Cu‐based nanostructures and microstructures with desirable physicochemical properties. Precursors containing multiple metal cations, such as layered double hydroxides, have been

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
